According to eyewitness accounts, the man informed the woman that he was stepping out to buy shawarma and ice cream and assured her he would return shortly. However, several hours reportedly passed without any sign of him.
The situation escalated when the woman allegedly attempted to leave the hotel premises without settling the outstanding bill. Hotel staff reportedly intercepted her, insisting that the bill be paid before she could leave, leading to a tense exchange.
The circumstances surrounding the man's disappearance remain unclear, and it is not known whether the incident was intentional or the result of other unforeseen circumstances.

Osun SSG Teslim Igbalaye, Five Others Detained as Police Recover ₦4.81 Million, Voter Registers
Osogbo – The Secretary to the Osun State Government (SSG), Teslim Igbalaye, has been detained alongside five other suspects by the Osun State Police Command following a raid on his residence in Osogbo.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abiodun Ojelabi, the operation was carried out based on credible intelligence indicating that members of a suspected criminal gang were hiding at the location.
The police disclosed that one of the suspects arrested at the residence, Oladele Abiodun, was already on the command's watchlist in connection with alleged criminal offences.
Other suspects arrested during the operation were identified as Akande Taiwo, 60; Adeyemo Lukman, 45; Olaoye Muftau, 50; and Aderemi Musliu, 40.
Items recovered during the raid included ₦4,810,500 in cash, two Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), a voter register, a Dynabook laptop, a photocopier, and a printer.
The police said the raid was conducted lawfully by a team of operatives acting on intelligence reports, adding that investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the recovered items and the involvement of the suspects.
The Osun State Police Command assured the public that further updates would be provided as investigations progress.

Abiodun Orders Full Probe into Ajuwon Building Collapse, Warns Against Building Regulation Violations

ABEOKUTA – Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has ordered a comprehensive technical investigation into the collapse of a two-storey building at Baale Road, Ajuwon, in Ifo Local Government Area, which claimed one life and left several others injured.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday afternoon following a heavy rainstorm accompanied by intense thunderstorms. According to preliminary reports, the building suffered a catastrophic structural failure, causing its lower floors to sink into the ground while parts of the upper slab remained visible above the rubble.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the building collapsed at about 3:00 p.m., shortly after a torrential downpour. Two women and their children reportedly escaped after noticing signs of structural distress, while a young man sustained minor injuries as he fled the building moments before the collapse.
Emergency responders, including officials of the Ogun State Safety Office, State Fire Service, Ministries of Environment, Physical Planning and Urban Development, Works and Infrastructure, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Ifo Local Government Water and Environmental Sanitation Department, immediately mobilised to the scene to commence coordinated search-and-rescue operations.
Contractors operating within the Akute-Alagbole and Agbado axis also deployed heavy equipment to assist rescue efforts within minutes of the incident.
Although initial searches yielded no casualties, emergency teams intensified excavation after discovering traces of blood and footprints beneath the debris. Their efforts led to the recovery of one deceased victim, whose identity was yet to be confirmed at the time of filing this report.
Governor Abiodun directed experts from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, the Ogun State Building Control Agency, the Building Production Management and Material Testing Agency, and other relevant regulatory agencies to conduct detailed structural, geotechnical, and forensic investigations to determine the exact cause of the collapse.
The Governor also ordered inspections of adjoining buildings to ascertain whether they had suffered structural damage and to prevent further incidents.
Expressing sadness over the tragedy, Governor Abiodun extended his condolences to the family of the deceased and sympathised with all those affected.
He commended emergency responders, volunteers, and members of the community for their swift intervention, which led to the successful rescue of several occupants and helped minimise casualties.
The Governor assured residents that the state government would provide necessary support to affected victims while investigations continue. He also warned that anyone found to have violated approved building regulations, deviated from approved plans, or compromised construction standards would face prosecution in accordance with the law.
The Ogun State Government further appreciated the Lagos State Government for its support during the rescue operation, describing the collaboration as a reflection of the strong partnership between both states in safeguarding lives and property.
Reiterating his administration's commitment to enforcing physical planning regulations, Governor Abiodun urged developers, builders, artisans, and property owners to obtain all necessary approvals before embarking on construction projects and to strictly adhere to approved building plans.
He warned that the use of substandard materials, unauthorized alterations to approved building designs, and disregard for established construction standards pose serious threats to lives and property, stressing that strict compliance with building regulations remains essential to preventing avoidable building collapses.

ABEOKUTA – Senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu (OMOYAYI), FNCS, has expressed strong confidence ahead of the 2027 general election, declaring that the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket for Ogun Central is "unconditionally undisputable and firmly inside my pocket."
Senator Salisu made the declaration during an interview on the popular "OJU-ABE" programme on Splash FM 106.7, Abeokuta, where he reflected on his stewardship in the Senate and highlighted what he described as an unprecedented record of legislative achievements and constituency development across Ogun Central.
The lawmaker said his confidence stems from his performance in office, stressing that his administration has remained focused on delivering quality representation through impactful legislation, human capital development, digital transformation, infrastructure renewal, healthcare interventions, and community empowerment.
According to him, the overwhelming support he continues to enjoy from constituents and stakeholders is a reflection of the visible dividends of democracy that have reached every part of Ogun Central Senatorial District.
Speaking on his legislative achievements, Senator Salisu highlighted the National Internship and Unemployment Benefit Scheme Bill, which has passed second reading in the Senate, and the National Digital Economy and E-Governance Bill, which has passed first reading. He also recalled sponsoring motions seeking the suspension of the proposed sale of Lafarge Cement Plc to foreign investors and another calling for an end to illegal market raids by officers of the Nigeria Customs Service.
In the area of education and digital empowerment, the Senator said his office has consistently invested in the future of young people through the annual sponsorship of over 1,000 JAMB candidates, distribution of educational materials to students, and digital skills training programmes with laptop empowerment for youths, artisans, teachers, women, graduates, and undergraduates.
He also listed the commissioning of a 250-capacity ICT Centre at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), the establishment of a new ICT centre at the Federal University of Medical Sciences, and the provision of ICT facilities and equipment to several secondary schools across Ogun Central as part of his efforts to position the district for the digital economy.
Senator Salisu further highlighted his healthcare and social intervention programmes, including medical outreach conducted in collaboration with Shalom Global Medical Mission, facilitation of Federal Government intervention programmes, including the ₦50,000 cash grant for eligible beneficiaries, and annual distribution of palliatives during Eid-el-Kabir and Christmas celebrations.
He equally emphasized his commitment to women empowerment through the Okowo Salisu Empowerment Programme, which has supported hundreds of market women with financial assistance, digital skills training, laptops, and business support aimed at improving their economic well-being.
On infrastructure development, the Senator pointed to the rehabilitation of the Camp–FUNAAB–Alabata Road, construction of the Akomoje–Mawuko–Opeji Road, installation of transformers in Isabo CDA and Fijabi CDA, as well as the construction of motorized solar-powered boreholes in Olomore Market, Onikolobo, Ekerin Village, Okungbolu Village, and Temidire Junction.
He also highlighted the impact of the Imole OMOYAYI Solar Streetlight Initiative, under which hundreds of solar-powered streetlights have been installed across communities in Ogun Central, including the NUJ Secretariat, Nigeria Labour Congress Secretariat, General Hospital Ijaye, Oba Odeleye Park, and several towns in Abeokuta, Ifo, Odeda, Agbado, Itori, Ibafo, and adjoining communities.
The Senator disclosed that numerous qualified constituents have also secured employment opportunities through his facilitation, although he declined to reveal their identities.
While thanking the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State and Ogun Central Senatorial District for their confidence and unwavering support, Senator Salisu urged residents of the district to remain united and avoid divisive politics.
Reflecting on his political journey, he said he has remained a committed progressive since 2007, recalling that he contested under the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN). Police Arrest Fleeing Trailer Driver, Four Accomplices, Uncover Vehicle Dismantling Syndicate in Ogun
The Ogun State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its fight against organized vehicle theft with the arrest of a fleeing trailer driver and four suspected members of a vehicle dismantling syndicate.
The Command disclosed that detectives, acting on credible intelligence, arrested Temitope Omotayo Odulaja (47) in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on July 24, 2026, after weeks of investigation.
According to the police, Odulaja allegedly fled with his employer's trailer on June 6, 2026, prompting an intensive manhunt by operatives of the Command.
His arrest subsequently led detectives to Ijebu-Ode, where a follow-up operation on July 25, 2026, resulted in the arrest of four additional suspects identified as Segun Suleiman (27), Haruna Olaogun (49), Jimoh Wasiu (42), and Quazzim Suleiman (49).
Preliminary investigations revealed that the stolen trailer had been dismantled, with its components allegedly sold illegally. Police operatives recovered the trailer head and obtained documentary evidence showing how the vehicle was dismantled.
The Command said investigations indicate that the suspects are part of a suspected trailer-dismantling syndicate, adding that efforts are ongoing to recover the remaining parts of the stolen vehicle, identify other members of the criminal network, and determine the full extent of their operations.
Commending the detectives for their professionalism and intelligence-driven operations, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, described the arrests and recovery as a significant breakthrough in the fight against organized vehicle theft in Ogun State.
