The attention of stakeholders, party faithful, and the general public has been drawn to a statement circulated by a group identifying itself as the “APC Vanguard Group, Abia State Chapter,” alleging that Rt. Hon. Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, PhD, OON, engaged in anti-party activities based on perceived political association with Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR.

The allegation is founded largely on assumptions, political sentiment, and selective interpretation of public appearances rather than verifiable facts or institutional evidence.

For the avoidance of doubt, Rt. Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha remains a committed and loyal member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the duly nominated APC candidate for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Her position within the APC is neither speculative nor symbolic. It derives directly from established constitutional and electoral processes of the party.

Rt. Hon. Onyejeocha actively participated in APC activities at ward, constituency, and national levels, including the APC presidential primary process that produced President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the party’s flag bearer. She subsequently emerged through the APC House of Representatives primary as the party’s officially recognised candidate for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency.

These are verifiable institutional facts.

At no point has any evidence been presented showing that she defected from the APC, campaigned against APC candidates, repudiated the party, endorsed another political platform against the APC, or violated any lawful directive of the party.

The accusation of anti-party activity therefore collapses on both evidentiary and procedural grounds.

Political disagreement does not absolve individuals of the responsibility to uphold factual accuracy, institutional discipline, and intellectual honesty in public discourse.

It is equally important to distinguish between traditional partisan politics and the evolving governance expectations shaping modern democratic societies.

For decades, Nigerian politics largely revolved around rigid party hostility, personality conflicts, patronage structures, ethnic mobilisation, and political competition often disconnected from measurable governance outcomes. That political culture is gradually giving way because citizens increasingly demand practical results, responsible leadership, and visible development rather than endless political antagonism.

Good governance entails the transparent, accountable, and effective deployment of public authority to improve public welfare through infrastructure, institutional discipline, economic opportunity, service delivery, security, and measurable developmental outcomes.

Developmental politics evaluates leadership primarily on competence, delivery, fiscal discipline, institutional performance, and public value. Transformative governance goes even further by encouraging institutional renewal, constructive cooperation where public interest demands it, and leadership assessed more by measurable impact than partisan hostility.

This distinction is critical.

Across Abia State, many citizens are increasingly prioritising governance outcomes above narrow political bitterness. That shift explains why several stakeholders now support leadership collaborations capable of sustaining development continuity, institutional stability, effective representation, and responsible governance beyond old political divisions.

Within this context, Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, is widely regarded by many stakeholders as one of the most visible development-driven governors currently serving in Nigeria. Public perception across Abia State has been shaped significantly by infrastructure interventions, administrative discipline, renewed public confidence, and a governance style largely perceived to prioritise delivery and measurable results.

Reasonable people may hold differing political opinions, and that remains perfectly legitimate within a democracy.

What is neither reasonable nor intellectually defensible, however, is the attempt to portray acknowledgement of visible governance performance as political betrayal simply because such performance originates from another political party.

Public infrastructure and development projects within any federal constituency remain matters of legitimate public interest irrespective of party affiliation. Responsible representatives are expected to support initiatives that advance the welfare of their constituents.

That reflects political maturity and governance responsibility, not disloyalty.

Rt. Hon. Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, PhD, OON, possesses a distinguished record of public service spanning legislative leadership, constituency representation, national policy exposure, and ministerial responsibility.

She served creditably in the National Assembly and equally distinguished herself in ministerial office. Her return to the Federal Parliament represents continuity of experience, legislative competence, institutional reach, and tested leadership capacity.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, remains the national leader of the APC and the political platform to which Rt. Hon. Onyejeocha has consistently and publicly reaffirmed loyalty.

There is therefore no contradiction between loyalty to the APC, commitment to President Tinubu, and support for development-oriented governance within Abia State.

What some critics dismissively describe as “uncommon political alignment” is, in reality, part of a broader democratic transition from narrow partisan hostility toward developmental and transformative governance where competence, institutional performance, delivery, and public benefit increasingly shape political judgment.

That evolution may unsettle individuals still invested in perpetual political conflict, but it reflects a wider democratic shift already visible across modern political systems globally.

The public is therefore advised to disregard the statement circulated by the so-called APC Vanguard Group. The statement offers accusation without evidence, insinuation without proof, and political rhetoric without institutional authority.

Rt. Hon. Barr. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, PhD, OON, remains:

• A recognised leader of the APC;
• The duly nominated APC candidate for Isuikwuato/Umunneochi Federal Constituency;
• Loyal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR;
• Committed to responsible representation and developmental governance; and
• Aligned with the aspirations of citizens seeking competent, disciplined, transformative, and results-oriented leadership ahead of 2027.

History consistently demonstrates that societies make progress when politics evolves beyond narrow hostility toward measurable governance, institutional stability, and public value. That is the direction many citizens now expect, and that is the direction responsible leadership must continue to follow.
