AI could create enormous opportunities for Nigeria—but only if we prepare people for it.

The real question isn't “Will AI take jobs?”

It’s: Will Nigerians be ready to work alongside AI?

AI will reshape:

• Jobs — some roles will disappear, others will emerge.
• Education — students need to learn how to use AI, not just memorize information.
• Digital skills — AI literacy could become as important as basic computer skills.
• Businesses — small businesses can use AI to compete, automate tasks and reach more customers.
• Government — Nigeria needs policies that encourage AI innovation while protecting people from its risks.

Nigeria has a young population and huge untapped talent.

But population alone isn't an advantage.

Preparation is.

If we invest in skills, education and digital infrastructure now, AI could become one of Nigeria's biggest opportunities.

If we don't, we may simply watch the opportunity pass us by.

Nigeria is expensive. But that sentence alone doesn't explain the problem.

Inflation isn't just a number on a spreadsheet.

It means the same ₦10,000 that used to cover several things now disappears faster.

It means parents quietly removing things from the shopping list.

It means young people earning money but still struggling to move forward.

It means families postponing plans—not because they don't have ambition, but because survival keeps getting more expensive.

That's why inflation matters.

When prices rise faster than people's incomes, poverty doesn't always look like having no money.

Sometimes, it looks like having money that can no longer do much.

And that's the part of inflation we should talk about more.
