Rabies in Egypt: What every tourist and long-term visitor should know
β
βEgypt is known not only for its sights and beautiful sea, but also for its large number of street cats and stray dogs. Many animals are friendly, accustomed to people and often win the hearts of tourists in minutes. β€οΈ
βNevertheless, it is good to know the basic facts about rabies.
β
βπ Rabies still occur in Egypt.
βπ This is a viral disease that is almost always fatal after the outbreak of symptoms.
βπ Every year, a large number of animal bites occur, especially dogs.
βπ Vaccination programs aimed at animals and humans are underway in Egypt.
β
βπΎ What does mark on animals mean?
β
βπ A cut off ear in a cat or an identification mark in a dog usually means that the animal has gone through a castration program and has been vaccinated.
β
ββ οΈ Caution - this does not automatically mean that the animal is protected against rabies for life. Vaccinations require regular re-vaccination and in stray animals it is impossible to know their current health status.
β
βπ When to consider vaccination before traveling?
β
ββ
During a long stay in Egypt
ββ
If you often come in contact with animals
ββ
When traveling to remote areas
ββ
If you are traveling with children
β
βπ« How to reduce the risk?
β
βπ Don't pet strangers dogs.
βπ Do not take street cats in your arms, even if they look healthy.
βπ§ Teach children not to get close to strangers' animals.
βπ Have a valid tetanus vaccination.
βpoΕ‘ What to do when biting or scratching?
βπ§Ό Wash thoroughly in the morning with soap and water for at least 15 minutes.
βπ₯ Seek medical help as soon as possible.

From my inbox π₯
There's one of our Nigerian sister who has been having a difficult time finding a job because according to her, a madam put her name and picture on "Maids And Nannies In Egypt Blacklist Platform" she complained that anytime she send her photo to agent for work, the agent will send the photo to the madam and the madam will use her photos for review on this platform and they won't call her back again. She said the lady one that hurt her badly was the recent one that the madam took her to Ain Soukhna or something. After they got there the madam went behind her to post her photo to do review and that was it, the madam sent her away.
So,pls if anyone of you guys have any job opportunity that madam need someone, you can kindly reach out to me via inbox π₯ oso can link you guys together. We all knows that some of this madams can be very horrible and can go any length to spoil someone's reputation when you stop working with them.
I really feel so sorry for her cuz she said she's been home for awhile now doing nothing than just crying π and praying for helper's.
As a true Nigerians, now would be the best time to reach out to a sister who is in distress
