That means fewer than 1 in 10 National Assembly candidates is a woman.
What does this say about women’s representation in Nigerian politics?

Wike: APC Governors Were Unhappy With My Appointment as FCT Minister
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has claimed that some governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were unhappy with his appointment as FCT Minister.
Wike made the statement during an interview with Arise News on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, while discussing his political disagreements with some APC governors ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Wike, the disagreement dates back to his appointment by President Bola Tinubu in 2023.

Wike said the governors were also unhappy with him when he was governor of Rivers State.
He maintained that despite the disagreements, he continues to support President Tinubu and his proposed political coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.
