THE SPIRIT OF THE PROPHET: THE DEEPER MEANING FROM AFRICAN/IGBO COSMOLOGY

‎One evening I was walking home and I heard the voice of a lady singing during a mid-week fellowship and what caught my attention from her lyrics was the phrase *The spirit of the prophet*
‎
‎Before I do justice to this topic lets look at the concept of a prophet and a Dibia
‎
‎The word prophet originates from the Ancient Greek word prophētēs, which translates to spokesperson, advocate or one who speaks for a god.
‎
‎The term Dibia refers to a traditional healer, spiritual practitioner, and clairvoyant within the African/Igbo culture. These makes the dibia master of knowledge or spiritual doctor, the Dibia acts as an intermediary between the physical and spiritual realms to provide physical healing, mental liberation, and spiritual guidance.
‎Thus, this states a clear difference between a Dibia and an occultic person
‎
‎The concept of a Dibia revolves around divine calling: A Dibia does not simply choose the profession; they are summoned. This calling often comes through the Agwụ (the patron spirit of healing and clairvoyance) via dreams, visions, or even hereditary.
‎
‎According to the bible description the spirit of the prophet is termed the holy spirit. In a plain English holy refers to clean and pure. which qualifies every new born baby to be seen as one. because chukwu okike (supreme creator), created us with a pure spirit.
‎And this gave me the right to say that everyone is a prophet irrespective of the area you're called.
‎
‎But in African/igbo cosmology everyone is not a Dibia because Igbo spirituality (Odinani) does not feature the traditional "prophet" as understood in Abrahamic religions. Instead of a single prophet foretelling the future, African/Igbo cosmology relies on diviners (Dibia) and priests (Eze Mmuo) to interpret the will of Chukwu (the Supreme Creator), the deities (Alusi), and the ancestors (Ndiichie)
‎the universe is governed and guarded by spirituality which is beyond what a mere religion can comprehend.
‎
‎1 Corinthians 14:32 states, "And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets."
‎if this is actually true then it is highly questionable. how can you be the master of what is meant to lead and guide you.
‎
‎In Igbo cosmology, Agwụ is not a subject to the Dibia; rather, Agwụ is the patron spirit and the master that guides the Dibia. Agwụ is the divine force of creativity, divination, and healing. It possesses and dictates the life path of the Dibia, who must submit to its spiritual call.

‎Holy spirit and Agwu are two distinct entity, they are two parallel lines that can never meet.
‎everyone has holy spirit if I must say but not everyone has the spirit of Agwu.
‎agwu chooses his or her subject. it's a force with neutral energy but like double edge sword if not properly handled it will cut. what an English man calls holy spirit is different from what a Chinese call it likewise an Indian.
‎
‎if the concept of holy spirit is universal then you should be able to trace it from the cosmology tied to your root. I am not trying to condemn the Christian beliefs or any religion in any way but I refuse to accept any dogmatic principle that is not rooted in one's origin. Yes! there's no doubt that one's origin or root can be faulty but one thing is clear "it was faulted by men and not spirits" so next time you try to prove a point about the stigma on African beliefs remember that you're rooted somewhere and no origin is perfect.

‎Sometimes what you need most at some point in your life is to be guided.
‎
‎Few months to when I was preparing to attend a burial in the village, I had a dream of me and my mother going to church on a crossover night.
‎
‎On our way to the church here comes a very powerful rain with heavy storm. we were so drenched beyond recognition in that dream 😂. eventually we located the church we are going to and we enter but on getting there the service is over.
‎
‎so I sat somewhere resting then came this pretty black and shine lady who approached me and gave me her phone to listen to the love song on the phone. she gave me her phone and left, she entered a particular room. while listening to the love song I stood up to follow her to that room she entered from no where one smart guy overtook me and entered the room with her and I withdrew.
‎
‎Shortly after that drama I saw my mother and I washing our hands from a tap but the water running out was dirty, the water from my mom's tap was more dirty than mine. we left there and I woke up.
‎
‎I shared a part of the dream with my mom where the lady gave me her phone to listen to a love song. The next thing you know women and finding a wife for their only son, she start praising one strange girl she met in the village sometimes ago to me. But you know me na the spiritual sensitive guy, I code immediately and played along.
‎

‎Shockingly, when I finally went to the village for the burial and I met this girl she looks similar to the lady in the dream but I comport my self na.
‎
‎That dream was trying to reveal to me the shameful journey I would have engaged myself if I had taken that lady serious in real life. Everything that played out in that dream was a clear red flag.
‎sometimes you don't necessarily need afa consultation before getting the message. if your chi is active you will be well guided.
‎
‎Don't ever joke with your dreams they are your path way or link to the great beyond.

YOUR VOICE AND THE UNIVERSE

‎Some few years ago we planted soursop in our compound, after about five years it started producing fruits but very poor produce.
‎
‎we were unable to eat from the fruit for few years because they rotten and sometimes fall off from the tree before maturity. it became a serious concern and annoying at the same time because we love the fruit for it's taste and health benefits.
‎So, sometimes last year I paid my mom a visit and here is the same soursop tree with the same problem. Out of annoyance my mom instead we cut it down but I disagreed with her and that same moment I went directly to the soursop tree and placed my left hand on the stem and spoke to it to start producing edible fruits and failure to do so by next harvest season it will be uprooted and I left.
‎This is exactly one year I spoke to that tree and am eating the fruit while writing this post.

‎What am trying to say hear is this every atom of creation listens to our voice.
‎One of the things God gave us as humans to dominate the universe aside brains and wisdom is our voice. the moment you speak into the universe it is bound to listen and comply provided what you said is in alignment with the order of nature.
‎
‎*your voice is the propeller to call your imaginations or desires into life.*
‎
‎just as they say; *"A closed mouth is a trapped destiny"* you never can tell how powerful how your voice is until you put it into use.
