OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON THE UMUNZE- UMUCHU ROAD BY PEMU.
It increasingly appears that a social media campaign is being mounted against Governor Soludo and his administration, with some individuals and groups using digital platforms to advance narratives that seem to be influenced less by an objective assessment of government performance and more by political interests, including disappointment that their preferred candidate has not received the support they expected.
The video currently being circulated is a concerning example. It appears to present a misleading account of the condition of a newly constructed road, yet the claim is being widely amplified without the basic verification of the facts that should ordinarily accompany responsible public discourse.
Political differences are a legitimate and necessary part of democracy. Citizens have every right to question government policies, scrutinize public projects, identify shortcomings, and demand accountability. Indeed, constructive criticism is essential to good governance. However, such criticism should be grounded in facts, evidence, and an honest assessment of the situation.
We should therefore ask ourselves: must political differences inevitably descend into misinformation? Can we not disagree over political choices while still acknowledging genuine development efforts and, where necessary, objectively identifying areas that require improvement?
Anambra deserves a political culture in which facts matter more than propaganda, accountability is pursued through evidence rather than misinformation, and political competition does not require the distortion or misrepresentation of reality.
We can disagree politically without abandoning the truth. Ultimately, the development and well-being of Anambra and its people should remain more important than the interests of any individual candidate or political group.

TOGETHER WE STAND; DIVIDED WE FALL
The Office of the Director, Project Evaluation and Monitoring Unit (PEMU), commends the young man who brought to public attention, through social media, the drainage failure along the Nnobi–Nkpor Road, particularly around the Ideani axis.
This is a commendable example of **responsible citizenship** and constructive public engagement, in line with the call by the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, that *“if you see something, say something.”*
Following the report, my team, in collaboration with the Ministry of Works, responded promptly to assess the situation, and remedial works are currently ongoing.
It is important to recognise that the road was originally constructed under a previous administration. However, **government is a continuous process**. Every administration has a responsibility to maintain, improve and preserve public infrastructure for the benefit of Ndi Anambra.
Our roads are public assets, and their continued functionality requires not only government intervention but also the vigilance and cooperation of citizens. We therefore encourage Ndi Anambra to continue reporting infrastructure challenges and other issues requiring government attention.
Let me assure the public that the Project Evaluation and Monitoring Unit remains committed to listening to constructive criticism, verifying reported concerns and working with the relevant ministries and agencies to ensure that appropriate action is taken promptly.
Together, we can build an Anambra where citizens and government work hand in hand to make our communities safer, better and more prosperous.**
God bless you all.
God bless Anambra State.

IMPORTANT PUBLIC NOTICE: TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF FIRST NIGER BRIDGE📌🌉
I wish to draw the attention of Ndi Anambra, motorists, commuters and the general public to the Federal Government’s announcement on the temporary closure of the First Niger Bridge for emergency maintenance works.
According to the announcement, the bridge will be fully closed to traffic from Monday, 7th September to Monday, 21st September 2026. During this period, motorists travelling towards Asaba, Delta State and other destinations are advised to make use of the Second Niger Bridge route through Obosi.
Road users are encouraged to take note of this temporary arrangement, plan their journeys accordingly and cooperate with traffic and security officials to ensure smooth movement and minimise avoidable congestion.
The inconvenience associated with the closure is regrettable, but the maintenance intervention is necessary to safeguard this critical piece of infrastructure and ensure its continued service to the travelling public.
Please share this information widely so that family, friends, commercial drivers and other road users can plan ahead.

WELCOME TO SEPTEMBER! A MONTH OF PURPOSE, STANDARDS AND IMPACT
As we step into the month of September, we renew our commitment to a simple but important principle: every public project must deliver the quality, value and impact Ndi Anambra deserve.
At the Project Evaluation and Monitoring Unit (PEMU), our responsibility goes beyond visiting project sites. It is about measuring progress, verifying standards, strengthening accountability, and ensuring that public investments translate into durable infrastructure and measurable benefits for our people.
Through diligent monitoring, objective evaluation and evidence based assessment, we will continue to support the vision of HE Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, for an Anambra where projects are not merely completed, but are delivered to specification, built to last and capable of providing real value for generations.
May September bring renewed strength, greater productivity and remarkable progress to our dear State and to every home across Anambra.
Happy New Month, Ndi Anambra.

From Iyiowa, Odekpe to Ekwulobia, PEMU continues to uphold strict quality assurance standards, ensuring that interlocking stone pavements used for internal roads meet the required minimum compressive strength and performance specifications.
In collaboration with the Anambra Materials Testing Laboratory, PEMU conducts both destructive and non-destructive testing of materials and completed works across public infrastructure projects.
These quality control measures help verify compliance with approved specifications, safeguard structural integrity, enhance durability and ensure value for money in the delivery of public infrastructure across Anambra State.
