SAZU Staff Defeat FRSC Azare 2-1 in Friendly Match to Strengthen Institutional Partnership

Sports Directorate of Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU) Bauchi State, hosted a captivating friendly football match on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The SAZU Staff Football Team secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Azare Division team at the Main Campus Stadium in Gadau.

The match is aimed at fostering more camaraderie and stronger inter-agency relations between Sa'adu Zungur University Bauchi State and other institutions. The primary objective of the encounter was to strengthen the existing mutual bonds and deepen camaraderie between the university and the law enforcement agency.

Declaring the match open, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Bala Maaji Abdulhamid, extends warm appreciation to the visiting FRSC contingent for honoring the invitation and bringing a spirit of healthy competition.

He further extends the Vice-Chancellor's goodwill and urged both sides to display their talents while emphasizing the broader purpose of the fixture. He described the match as a vital initiative to sustain and enhance the strong bilateral relationship SAZU shares with security agencies and host community organizations within and beyond its environs.

The event drew several key principal officers of the University and dignitaries, including: Prof. Aminu Umar Kura — DVC Administration, Dr. A.G. Hassan — University Registrar, Prof. Murtada Alhaqiqi — Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. A. Garkuwa — Director of Sports, And a bunch of energetic crowd of university staff, students, and supporters packed the stands to cheer on both sides.

SECOND BATCH ADMISSION LIST FOR 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION RELEASED

The University is pleased to announce the release of the second batch admission list for candidates offered provisional admission into its undergraduate programmes for the 2026/2027 Academic Session.

Successful candidates are invited to participate in the mandatory physical screening exercise scheduled to commence on Monday, 28th September, 2026, at their respective campuses where their programmes are domiciled. The screening exercise will end on Friday, 9th October, 2026.

Candidates are advised to visit the University portal at www.sazu.edu.ng to check their admission status.

For the physical screening, candidates are required to present the originals and photocopies of the following documents:

- Computer printout of SSCE Result

- JAMB Result

- Online Screening Form

- One recent passport photograph

- Scratch card for verification of O' Level results

Candidates must also ensure that they upload their O' Level results on the JAMB Portal through any JAMB-accredited CBT Centre before appearing for the screening.

Following a successful screening exercise, candidates are expected to check the JAMB Portal within two to three days to accept their admission and print their JAMB Admission Letter. Only candidates who accept their admission on the JAMB Portal will be able to complete their admission process on the University's portal.

The University congratulates all newly admitted candidates and wishes them a successful academic journey at Sa'adu Zungur University.

SA'ADU ZUNGUR UNIVERSITY HOLDS PUBLIC LECTURE ON CYBERSECURITY

The Premier Chambers of the Faculty of Law, Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU), Misau Campus, has organised a public lecture on cybersecurity aimed at enhancing awareness of digital security, cybercrime prevention, and the legal frameworks for combating emerging cyber threats in Nigeria.

The lecture, held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, was themed: "Cybersecurity in the Digital Age: Combating Cybercrime Through Law, Awareness, and Enforcement." It brought together legal scholars, security experts, academic staff, students, and other stakeholders to discuss practical approaches to promoting a safer digital environment through law, public awareness, and effective enforcement.

The Vice-Chancellor of Sa'adu Zungur University, Professor Fatimah Tahir, who attended the event as the Special Guest of Honour, described the theme as timely and highly relevant in view of the growing sophistication of cybercrime and the increasing reliance on digital technologies. She urged participants, particularly students, to apply the knowledge acquired during the lecture in promoting responsible digital citizenship and safeguarding cyberspace.

Professor Tahir also commended The Premier Chambers for organising the lecture, noting that such academic engagements complement classroom learning and prepare students to address contemporary legal and societal challenges.

Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Chief Host, Professor Saleh M. G. Kanam, welcomed participants and applauded The Premier Chambers for organising the programme. He described the lecture as a significant academic initiative that connects legal education with real-life challenges and appreciated the Vice-Chancellor for her unwavering support for academic excellence and student development.

The lecture was delivered by senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Bauchi State Command, DSP Kawu Ibrahim Mu'azu, Esq., who represented the Commissioner of Police, and ASP Muhammad Awwal El-Usman, Esq. They examined Nigeria's legal framework for combating cybercrime, investigative strategies, digital evidence, and the importance of public awareness and collaboration in preventing cyber-related offences.

The event featured an interactive session during which students engaged the resource persons on issues relating to online fraud, identity theft, data protection, digital evidence, and the role of law enforcement agencies in combating cybercrime.

The programme attracted members of the Faculty Board, academic staff, students, and other stakeholders, reaffirming the University's commitment to promoting practical legal education, intellectual discourse, and innovative solutions to contemporary societal challenges.

SA'ADU ZUNGUR UNIVERSITY APPOINTS IBRAHIM ABDULLAHI AS SUBSTANTIVE BURSAR

The Governing Council of Sa'adu Zungur University (SAZU) has approved the appointment of Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi as the substantive Bursar of the University.

The appointment was ratified at an emergency meeting of the Governing Council held on Tuesday, 21st July, 2026, following the recommendation of the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board.

Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi emerged as the most successful candidate in the selection exercise, having scored the highest marks during the interview conducted by the Board for the position of Bursar.

Before his appointment, Malam Ibrahim served as the Acting Bursar of the University, a position he held from 28th August, 2025, after previously serving as Deputy Bursar and overseeing the Bursary Department. His progression through the ranks reflects over a decade of dedicated service and professional excellence in the University's financial administration.

A seasoned accounting professional, Malam Ibrahim holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Accounting from Sa'adu Zungur University, a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Accounting from the National Open University of Nigeria, a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, and He is a Certified National Accountant (CNA), a Fellow, Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria (FCAI) and a Certified Procurement Officer.

Since joining the University in 2012, he has served and Headed across all units/division of the bursary department ranging from Treasury, Final Accounts, Salary and Wages, Investment, Budget and Expenditure Control.

Malam Ibrahim rose through the rank from Higher Executive Officer (Accounts), Senior Accountant, Principal Accountant, Chief Accountant, Deputy Bursar, Overseer of the Bursary Department, and Acting Bursar. Throughout his career, he has played significant roles in budgeting, financial reporting, treasury management, policy implementation, and institutional financial planning.

The appointment reflects the University's commitment to merit, transparency, and due process in the selection of principal officers.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, Management, staff, and students, congratulated Malam Ibrahim Abdullahi on his well-deserved appointment and expressed confidence in his capacity to provide prudent financial leadership that will further strengthen the University's drive towards academic excellence and institutional development.
