Professor Gozie Ogbodo Champions a New Era of Transformation at IMT Enugu

Professor Gozie Sunday Ogbodo, the Rector of the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, is an accomplished legal scholar, administrator, mentor and institutional leader whose career reflects a sustained commitment to academic excellence, human development and purposeful leadership.

Since assuming leadership of IMT, Professor Ogbodo has embarked on a broad transformation agenda aimed at repositioning the institution through academic reforms, infrastructural renewal, administrative efficiency, innovation and improved staff and student welfare. His administration has recorded significant developments in programme accreditation, campus renovation, digitalisation, entrepreneurship and industry partnerships.

One of the defining features of his leadership at IMT is his emphasis on measurable institutional progress. His administration has strengthened academic quality assurance, secured accreditation for academic programmes, renovated learning facilities and staff quarters, and pursued the digitalisation of institutional records. He has also promoted a culture of accountability, academic integrity and discipline, including a firm stance against examination malpractice and the practice of sorting.

His vision extends beyond conventional classroom education. Through initiatives such as One Diploma, One Skill, entrepreneurship development, industry collaborations and the establishment of new training platforms, he is promoting practical skills that can prepare students for employment, innovation and business ownership. The introduction of IMT Enterprises and the institution's own bread production also reflects his administration's focus on entrepreneurship and internally generated revenue.

Professor Ogbodo's leadership journey is built on a distinguished academic career. He was among the pioneer students of the Faculty of Law at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, where he studied Law before advancing his academic and professional pursuits to become a Professor of Law.

He spent many years lecturing at the Faculty of Law, University of Benin (UNIBEN), where he distinguished himself not only as a lecturer but also as a mentor and guide to students. His commitment to student development extended beyond the lecture halls. As Staff Adviser to the National Association of Enugu State Students, UNIBEN/UBTH Chapter, he voluntarily dedicated his time, knowledge and personal resources to mentoring students, supporting their aspirations and guiding their leadership development.

His academic and administrative accomplishments also include serving as Dean of the Faculty of Law at Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, and subsequently rising to the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration).

These responsibilities further strengthened his experience in institutional governance, strategic planning, academic management and organisational development.

Today, at IMT, Professor Gozie Ogbodo brings together decades of teaching, mentorship, legal scholarship and university administration to advance a renewed institutional vision. His leadership places emphasis on teamwork, stakeholder engagement, staff development, student welfare, innovation and a learning environment where academic excellence is matched by practical competence.

His journey from a pioneer law student to a Professor of Law, university administrator and Rector demonstrates a career shaped by continuous service, intellectual contribution and leadership responsibility.

At IMT, his ongoing transformation agenda reflects an ambition to build an institution that is academically credible, technologically responsive, entrepreneurial and prepared for the demands of the future.

A 21st century Security Council without permanent African representation is unjust & indefensible.

Crown Edge Properties Set to Unveil Bigger, Smarter Luxuria 2.0 Estate in Abuja

Following the success of its sold-out Luxuria 1.0 project in 2025, Crown Edge Group is expanding its vision for modern living with the development of Luxuria 2.0, a larger and more spacious luxury estate designed to raise the standard of contemporary homeownership in Abuja.

The new development is being driven by Crown Edge Properties and Crown Edge Construction Ltd, subsidiaries of Crown Edge Group, as the company continues to build its presence within Nigeria’s real estate sector.

Luxuria 1.0 marked an important milestone for Crown Edge Homes, providing investors and homeowners with a luxury residential environment that attracted buyers and ultimately became a sold-out project.

Building on that experience, the company says Luxuria 2.0 is being developed on a bigger scale, with greater space, enhanced luxury standards and a broader vision for modern residential living.

At the heart of Crown Edge’s approach is its philosophy: “Live Smarter and Happier with Crown Edge Homes.” The idea goes beyond creating properties that simply make a strong first impression.

The company is focused on homes designed to combine attractive architecture with thoughtful interiors, functionality, comfort and durability.

For Crown Edge, luxury is not only about what residents see from the outside. It is also about how a home feels and functions once you step through the door.

Led by a new generation of Nigerian professionals and entrepreneurs, Crown Edge Group is positioning its developments around a vision of creating homes that offer residents a genuine home-away-from-home experience in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

With Luxuria 2.0, that vision is being taken a step further. The estate is planned as a larger residential project where space, contemporary design and luxury living come together to create an environment suited to homeowners and property investors seeking modern accommodation in the capital…

Investors in the real estate market and homeowners are drawn to take advantage of the new estate built by Crown Edge.

With Luxuria 2.0, that vision is being taken a step further. The estate is planned as a larger residential project where space, contemporary design and luxury living come together to create an environment suited to homeowners and property investors seeking modern accommodation in the capital.

The development also reflects the growing demand for residential properties that provide more than conventional housing. For today’s homeowners, factors such as interior quality, durability, functionality, privacy, aesthetics and the overall living experience increasingly influence the value of a property.

Crown Edge’s next chapter therefore comes with a clear ambition: to build homes that are not merely impressive at completion, but remain valuable, comfortable and relevant for years to come.

As Luxuria 2.0 takes shape, Crown Edge Properties is seeking to build on the momentum of its first Luxuria project while presenting a bigger expression of its philosophy of smarter and happier living.
From Luxuria 1.0 to the larger Luxuria 2.0, Crown Edge Homes is building more than houses; it is shaping spaces designed for people to live, grow and create lasting memories.

Investors in the real estate market and homeowners are drawn to take advantage of the new estate built by Crown Edge.

Chimamanda Adichie Says Son’s Death Has Changed Her Feelings Towards Nigeria

Award-winning Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has said the death of her 21-month-old son, Nkanu, has profoundly changed her relationship with Nigeria.

Adichie disclosed this in a recent interview with The New York Times, months after her son died following a medical emergency at a hospital in Lagos.

Asked whether Nigeria still felt close to her heart, Adichie responded: “My feelings toward Nigeria have changed. I do not want to go back to Nigeria.” The statement was reported by The New York Times in an interview published on September 10, 2026

According to The New York Times, Nkanu became ill while Adichie and her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, were in Lagos during the holidays. The child was later taken to a hospital in Nigeria for an MRI examination, during which he was sedated. He subsequently suffered cardiac arrest and died.

The tragedy has also led to an ongoing legal and medical inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the child's death. The New York Times reported that Adichie and her husband have sought a coroner's inquest, saying they want answers and improvements in Nigeria's healthcare system rather than pursuing a lawsuit against the hospital.

Adichie's comments reflect the depth of the emotional impact the loss has had on her. Nigeria has historically been central to her identity and literary career, with the country providing much of the inspiration for her internationally acclaimed works.

Despite her painful experience, Adichie acknowledged that Nigeria remains important to her surviving children. She told The New York Times that her daughter still considers Nigeria her “happy place” and said her children may be the reason the family returns.

Adichie also reflected on the complicated relationship she now has with her homeland, saying that while the United States made it possible for her to pursue writing, “Nigeria gave me everything I needed to be able to write.”

Her latest remarks have generated widespread discussion in Nigeria, particularly because of the author's longstanding cultural and literary connection to the country.
