✨ UNGA ADOPTS RESOLUTION ON ACCESS TO ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY! ✨

Imagine not being able to go to school, earn a living, or move independently simply because you do not have access to glasses, a wheelchair, or a hearing aid. This is the daily reality for hundreds of millions of people around the world.

The United Nations General Assembly has adopted a resolution on “Access to Assistive Technology,” marking a significant milestone in the global effort for inclusion, access and opportunity for all. It formally recognizes that assistive products are not luxury items—they are fundamental tools for human rights, dignity, and sustainable development.

With more than 2.5 billion people needing at least one assistive product , and as few as 3% having access in underserved communities, this resolution is a critical call to action. It creates political pressure, guides national policies, and urges governments to integrate assistive technology directly into primary healthcare and Universal Health Coverage ( ).

How can we act?
1️. Share this major milestone to build public awareness.
2️. Support local organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs) who are driving national change.
3️. Urge your national leaders to develop a plan for assistive technology, adopt priority assistive products lists and invest in trained healthcare personnel.
