𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞, 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐃𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐏𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞?

When Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade wore a head covering with the name "JESUS", she probably wasn't trying to start a national debate. Yet, that simple act ignited conversations across social media.

Some applauded her courage.

Others argued that religion should be kept out of football.

My question is "Where does ministry actually begin?"

Many people think ministry only happens behind a pulpit. But the Bible tells us that believers are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14–16). That light is meant to shine in classrooms, hospitals, government offices, marketplaces, and even on football pitches.

The real issue may not be whether Rasheedat publicly identified with Jesus.

The deeper question is this:

If Christ has changed your life, should your faith remain invisible simply because your profession is in the public eye?

Being a Christian does not mean forcing beliefs on others. But neither should believers feel ashamed to acknowledge the One they believe gave them their gifts and opportunities.

History reminds us that people have always had different reactions whenever faith enters the public square. Yet Christians are called to respond with humility, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to Christ.

Should Christian athletes freely express their faith during public events, just as people of other beliefs express theirs? Or should sports remain completely free from religious expression?
