The effect of language development in Maths learning should not be overlooked. And I'm not particular about kids on the spectrum but this issue affects every learner. Over the years we've seen kids who do excellently in arithmetics start struggling when maths gets to the problem solving and reasoning.

Then it becomes obvious that the problem with maths can be traced back to language skills.

There's no break in learning. Especially for early years, the regression we teachers have to deal with in most learners after taking a break will question if the decision to break was wise.

Personally I recommend a break for some students, not all.

Managing the genius ability can be quite challenging.
