Day 17 — Dating Your Spouse Again

Scripture: “I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me.” — Song of Solomon 7:10

Marriage should never become a relationship of routine and responsibility alone. Even after the wedding, couples should continue to pursue, appreciate, and enjoy one another. The excitement, intentionality, and affection that existed during courtship should not disappear with time.

Dating your spouse again means making deliberate efforts to reconnect emotionally, spiritually, and romantically. It means creating time for meaningful conversations, going on simple outings, laughing together, sharing dreams, holding hands, and expressing love in ways that make your spouse feel valued and desired.

Many marriages become strained not because love is absent, but because couples stop nurturing their friendship. The demands of work, parenting, finances, and daily responsibilities can easily push romance aside. However, a thriving marriage requires intentional investment. Love grows stronger when it is continually expressed through kindness, attention, and shared experiences.

Song of Solomon reminds us of the beauty of mutual affection and desire in marriage. Your spouse should never feel ignored, taken for granted, or like an afterthought. Continue to pursue each other. Send thoughtful messages, plan special moments, compliment one another, and create memories together. Small acts of love done consistently can reignite joy and deepen intimacy.

No matter how many years you have been married, never stop dating your spouse. Keep choosing each other, keep learning about each other, and keep building a marriage filled with friendship, laughter, and love.

Prayer Points:

Father, help us to remain intentional in loving and pursuing one another in our marriage. Let our affection never grow cold, in Jesus’ name.

Lord, restore joy, friendship, and excitement in every marriage that has become burdened by routine, in Jesus’ name.

Teach us to prioritize quality time, meaningful conversations, and genuine companionship with our spouses, in Jesus’ name.

May our homes be filled with love, understanding, peace, and lasting intimacy that glorifies You, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Playfulness in marriage is not childishness; it is a sign of friendship. Laughter waters love, and little jokes spice up intimacy.

That is why it is important to marry your friend, not just a partner. Someone you can gist with on the bed at midnight, tease in the kitchen, or laugh with over small matters.

Marry who you can play with, gist with, laugh with, and even cry with. That’s how you will build a home.
