How much do you love God?

TODAY, I TURN 30 — BUT I CHOOSE TO MOURN
Today, September 25, 2026, I turn 30.
Thirty years of life.
Thirty years of God's grace.
Thirty years of hopes, dreams, struggles, lessons and countless blessings.
Ordinarily, today should be a day of celebration.
I should be posting beautiful pictures.
I should be thanking everyone for the birthday wishes.
I should be celebrating another milestone of life.
But this year, my heart is somewhere else.
Just recently, on September 17, 37 Nigerians died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State. The circumstances surrounding their deaths are currently being investigated by an independent committee constituted by the Federal Government.
And today, as I turn 30, I cannot celebrate as though nothing happened.
Thirty-seven families are grieving.
Thirty-seven families who were expecting their loved ones to return home.
Someone's son is gone.
Someone's brother is gone.
Someone's husband is gone.
Someone's father is gone.
Someone's friend is gone.
Behind the number 37 are human beings with names, dreams, families and people who loved them.
I may not know them personally, but they were Nigerians like me.
So today, instead of making my 30th birthday solely about myself, I choose to dedicate this day to remembering them and standing with their grieving families.
I am not claiming to know what caused their deaths.
I am not passing judgment before the investigation is completed.
I am simply asking for truth.
I am asking that the investigation be thorough, independent and transparent.
I am asking that the circumstances surrounding their arrest, detention and deaths be established.
And if anyone is ultimately found responsible for wrongdoing, let accountability follow the truth.
The Federal Government has said the investigation will examine the circumstances of their detention, the medical and forensic cause of death, and whether negligence, misconduct or other breaches occurred.

Today, I turn 30.
But I don't want my 30th birthday to be remembered only because I celebrated another year.
I want it to remind me that life is precious.
That every Nigerian life matters.
That behind every statistic is a family.
That when one Nigerian family mourns, we should all have the humanity to pause and care.
So today, I celebrate life by remembering those whose lives were recently lost.
To the families of the 37 Nigerians:
I may not know your pain, but today, my heart is with you.
May God comfort you.
May the truth come to light.
May justice be served.
And may the lives of these 37 Nigerians never be reduced to just a number.
Today, I am 30.
Today, I remember the 37.
Today, I stand with their families.
May their souls rest in peace.

Happy Birthday to my beautiful niece, Enyinnaya. 🎂

You are more than just beautiful: you are kind, courageous, intelligent, and incredibly strong. Life has taken you through battles that many people may never understand. Your family has faced hardship, and you have faced your own share of pain, including a serious illness recently. Yet, somehow, you kept fighting. You refused to let life break you.

Today, I don't just celebrate your birthday; I celebrate your survival, your strength, and the beautiful person you have continued to become despite everything.

My dear Enyinnaya, may God bless you with long life, sound health, peace, happiness, and many beautiful years ahead. May the years ahead be kinder to you than the years behind you.

And as your uncle, I want you to always remember this: you are not alone. I got you. I will stand by you, support you, and be there for you through whatever life brings.

Keep fighting. Keep shining. Keep being you.
