Every parent knows this scene: a full plate, a child pushing food around, and dinner turning into a 45-minute negotiation.
Picky eating is one of the most common and most normal phases of early childhood. Most children go through it, and for most, it's temporary. The good news is that how you respond can make it better or worse.
Forcing a child to finish their plate doesn't build a better eater. It builds a battle around food. What actually works is patience, consistency, and taking the pressure off mealtimes altogether.
This carousel breaks down 7 simple, practical strategies every parent can start using today, no stress, no power struggles, just a calmer path to a more adventurous eater.
Save this for the next mealtime standoff. Share it with a parent who needs it.

Before every meltdown, something usually happened first.
A loud environment. A sudden change in plans. A need your child couldn't put into words. Understanding what commonly triggers dysregulation in autistic children is one of the most powerful things a parent or teacher can learn, because once you know the trigger, you can often prevent the moment before it even happens.
This is not about walking on eggshells. It's about understanding your child's nervous system well enough to make their world a little easier to navigate, one small adjustment at a time.
Save it. Share it with another parent or teacher who needs to understand this better.

One of these is a myth that has kept countless families from seeking support their child could have benefited from. The other is a fact backed by decades of research across autism, ADHD, developmental delays, and beyond.

ABA therapy is being recommended for more and more children and parents are saying yes without always knowing what it actually involves.
That is not a criticism. It is a gap we want to close.
When your child's therapist talks about manding, tacting, shaping, or reinforcement, do you know what they mean? Do you know how to recognize these things happening in a session? Do you know how to support them at home?
Understanding the language of ABA doesn't make you a therapist. But it makes you a far more effective parent. Because a child who hears consistent language and consistent responses at home and in therapy makes faster progress than one who only gets it during sessions.
Save this. Come back to it. And the next time someone mentions one of these terms in a meeting about your child, you will know exactly what they mean.
Which of these terms have you heard before and which ones are completely new to you?

Back to school season is almost here. And for parents of children with autism, ADHD, or any behavioral or learning differences, the preparation that happens before the first bell rings matters more than most people realize.
Transitions are one of the highest-risk moments for behavioral challenges. A child who spent the summer in a loose, unstructured routine is being asked to snap back into a full school day almost overnight. For neurotypical children, that adjustment is uncomfortable. For neurodivergent children, it can trigger anxiety, regression, and significant behavioral challenges in the first weeks of school, challenges that are entirely preventable with the right preparation.
The school year doesn’t start on the first day. It starts with what happens before it.
Save this checklist. Share it with a parent who needs it. And if you have questions about what behavioral supports your child should have in place for this school year, our team at BSE is here.
Parents, what’s your biggest concern as school resumption approaches?

In ABA, we don't guess. We measure.
Every session. Every behavior. Every response. Because the difference between an intervention that works and one that doesn't often comes down to whether anyone was actually tracking the numbers.
Data collection is not paperwork. It is the mechanism by which we know if a child is making progress and if they're not, it is what tells us exactly where to change course.
For parents, this is what separates quality ABA support from "we're doing our best and hoping for the better." Your child's progress should always be visible, measurable, and reviewable. If nobody is collecting data on your child's sessions, that is a question worth asking.
Save this. Share it with someone supporting a child with autism or ADHD who deserves more than guesswork. 💚

New month. Same mission.
Every month we show up here, we show up for one reason, to make sure that parents, teachers, and caregivers across Nigeria have access to the kind of information that actually changes how children are supported.
Because the child who gets understood early gets a different life. And understanding starts with the right information in the right hands.
Welcome to a new month from our entire team at BSE. Whatever this month holds for your family or your classroom, we're here. 💚

If someone has mentioned ABA therapy for your child and you're not sure what it actually means, this is for you.
ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) is not about controlling children or making them "act normal." It is a science-based approach that studies how behavior is learned and uses that knowledge to teach real, meaningful skills, communication, social interaction, daily living, emotional regulation.
Every plan is tailored to the individual child. Every goal is measurable. Every session produces data that tells us whether what we're doing is working and if it isn't, we change course. No guesswork.
If you have questions about whether ABA is right for your child, drop them in the DM. We're here to help you understand.

Every teacher has been there, voice rising, class getting louder, and somehow the more you shout, the worse it gets.
Here's what behavioral science tells us: shouting is a reactive strategy. It works in the moment, until it doesn't. And for students with autism, ADHD, or sensory sensitivities, a raised voice doesn't signal authority. It signals threat. Which means dysregulation, not attention.
These 5 techniques work because they're proactive, consistent, and give students clear, predictable cues, which is exactly what behavioral management looks like in practice.
Save this for later.
