OWODE EGBA SHUTS DOWN FOR HON. ADEKUNLE AJAYI 2026 YOUTH CUP FINAL AS HON ADEKUNLE AJAYI REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO YOUTH DEVELOPMENT

The atmosphere in Owode Egba was electric yesterday as Hon. Adekunle Ajayi Abdullateef, Councillor representing Owode Ward 3 and House of Assembly Aspirant for Obafemi Owode State Constituency, attended the grand finale of the annual Hon. Adekunle Ajayi 2026 Youth Cup at N.U.D Primary School, Owode Egba.

The keenly contested final, which drew massive crowds of youths, community leaders, and football lovers, ended in a goalless draw between Egba United F.C and A.Y Lotto FC. Egba United F.C eventually emerged champions after a dramatic penalty shootout, amid cheers and celebrations.

While presenting medals and trophies to the winners, Hon. Adekunle Ajayi Abdullateef reiterated that youth empowerment remains one of the major pillars of his administration since he assumed office as Councillor for Owode Ward 3, Obafemi Owode Local Government.

“This tournament is not just about football. It is about creating platforms for our youths to discover their talents, stay engaged positively, and build unity across our communities,” he said.

He used the opportunity to outline various developmental projects he has facilitated across Owode Ward and Obafemi Owode Local Government at large. These include infrastructural interventions, educational support, and grassroots empowerment initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for his constituents.

Hon. Adekunle Ajayi also expressed deep appreciation to his principal, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, for providing him the opportunity to serve the people at the grassroots. He equally thanked his immediate boss, the Executive Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government, Hon. Amb. Lanre Adesina Ogunsola, FCPA, for his constant support, guidance, and words of advice.

Speaking on behalf of the organizers, Mr. Ogundimu Oluwasegun commended Hon. Adekunle Ajayi Abdullateef for his consistent show of love and attention to the youth constituency of Owode Ward and Obafemi Owode in general. He noted that the Councillor’s frequent sponsorship of football and other youth-centered competitions has given hope and a sense of belonging to many young people in the area.

Also speaking, Mr. Oluwadamilola Sunday, a spectator and community member, described the Hon. Adekunle Ajayi Youth Cup as a first-of-its-kind initiative in the history of Obafemi Owode. He emphasized that the tournament has succeeded in bonding the people of the community together in love, irrespective of tribe or religion.

The event ended with prayers, goodwill messages, and a renewed call for more youth-focused initiatives as the 2026 political season approaches.
