Computer Clinic with Adaeze
Empowering everyone with simple digital safety tips to protect your money, data, and identity.
One common trick is to convince you to give away a verification code.
Remember:
β Don't share WhatsApp verification codes. β Don't follow suspicious instructions. β Be careful with unexpected links. β
Enable available account security features.
If someone suddenly messages you asking for a code, STOP and verify.
π΅οΈ IS THAT PERSON REALLY WHO THEY CLAIM TO BE?
Before accepting a friend request:
π Check the profile history.
π Look at mutual friends.
π Check whether the photos look suspicious.
π Be careful if the account was recently created.
π Never send money simply because someone has a familiar name or photo.
A scammer can copy someone's name and profile picture.
A familiar face online doesn't always mean a familiar person.
π° βINVEST β¦50,000 AND GET β¦500,000!β
Sounds attractive, right?
That's exactly why scammers use unrealistic returns to attract victims.
Before investing online:
β Don't trust screenshots of βsuccessful investors.β
β Don't send money because someone is pressuring you.
β Don't trust guaranteed profits.
β
Research the company independently.
β
Verify who is behind the offer.
If the profit sounds impossible, STOP and investigate.
π5 WARNING SIGNS YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT MAY BE COMPROMISED
1οΈβ£ You receive a login alert you don't recognize.
2οΈβ£ Your password suddenly stops working.
3οΈβ£ Messages are sent that you didn't write.
4οΈβ£ Posts appear that you didn't publish.
5οΈβ£ Your account details have been changed.
If you notice something suspicious, act quickly:
π Change your password.

π Secure your email account too.
Don't wait until your friends start receiving scam messages from your account.
π STOP USING THE SAME PASSWORD EVERYWHERE!
If one website gets hacked and your password is exposed, scammers may try that same password on your email, Facebook, Instagram and other accounts.
Use:
β
Long passwords/passphrases
β
Different passwords for important accounts
β
A password manager where appropriate
β
Two-factor authentication
Your password is the key to your digital life.
π Don't use one key for every door.

π€π YOUR LOVED ONE'S VOICE CAN BE CLONED!
Imagine receiving a call that sounds exactly like your child, sibling, friend, or boss asking for emergency money.
Don't panic.
AI can now be used to imitate human voices, making some emergency calls difficult to trust by voice alone.
π Create a family verification question or phrase.
If someone calls asking for money urgently:
1οΈβ£ Stay calm.
2οΈβ£ Hang up.
3οΈβ£ Call the person back using a number you already know.
4οΈβ£ Confirm before sending money.
A familiar voice is not always proof of identity.
