FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE RIVERS STATE COMMAND PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO ETCHE LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

The State Controller, Federal Fire Service, Rivers State Command, ACF Obasi Ikenna, on Friday, 25th September 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Etche Local Government Council, where he was received by the Executive Chairman, Hon. Chima Njoku.

The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Federal Fire Service and the Local Government, particularly in the areas of fire prevention, emergency preparedness, public safety and effective emergency response.

Speaking during the visit, the State Controller emphasised the importance of sustained stakeholder engagement and collective efforts towards preventing fire incidents and protecting lives and property within the Local Government Area. He further highlighted the need for continued public awareness and cooperation among relevant stakeholders to enhance community safety.

In his response, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Chima Njoku, appreciated the State Controller for the visit and expressed the Local Government’s commitment to fostering a stronger safety partnership with the Federal Fire Service, Rivers State Command. He noted that enhanced collaboration would contribute significantly to fire prevention, public safety awareness and improved emergency response within the Local Government Area.

The visit reaffirmed the commitment of both institutions to strengthening inter-agency collaboration, enhancing fire safety awareness and promoting the protection of lives and property in Etche Local Government Area.

ZONAL CONTROLLER, FEDERAL FIRE SERVICE ZONE I, VISITS INDORAMA TO INSPECT NEW FREE ZONE FIRE STATION

The Zonal Controller, Federal Fire Service, Zone I, CF Alfa Abdullahi, yesterday, paid an official work visit to Indorama Eleme Fertilizer & Chemicals Limited to inspect the company’s newly established Free Zone Fire Station in Eleme, Rivers State.
The visit was aimed at assessing the readiness, facilities' firefighting equipment and operational capacity of the new fire station to respond promptly and effectively to fire and other emergencies within the Free Zone and its surrounding industrial environment.
During the inspection, the Zonal Controller and his team examined the fire station’s facilities, firefighting appliances and equipment, water supply arrangements, emergency response systems and other critical fire-safety infrastructure. The team also reviewed the preparedness of personnel and the station’s capacity to support rapid emergency response.
The Zonal Controller commended the management of Indorama for the establishment of the fire station, describing it as an important step towards strengthening fire prevention, protection and emergency response within the industrial complex.
He emphasized the importance of regular maintenance of firefighting equipment, continuous training and retraining of personnel, periodic emergency drills, effective communication systems and strict compliance with established fire safety standards.
The Zonal Controller further assured the management of Indorama of the Federal Fire Service’s continued support and professional collaboration in promoting fire safety and reducing fire risks within the Free Zone.
In response, the management of Indorama appreciated the Federal Fire Service for the visit and expressed its commitment to sustaining collaboration with the Service towards ensuring a safe and resilient industrial environment.
The visit ended with a renewed commitment by both organizations to strengthen cooperation in fire prevention, emergency preparedness, response and protection of lives, properties and critical industrial infrastructure.

WORLD FIRE CONGRESS CONCLUDES WITH ADOPTION OF FOUNDING PRINCIPLES

The 2026 World Fire Congress has concluded with a significant milestone, as representatives of participating countries formally signed the World Fire Congress Founding Principles, reaffirming a collective commitment to stronger international cooperation in fire and emergency management.

The signing represents a shared resolve to promote effective fire prevention, enhance preparedness and response capabilities, advance public safety, and strengthen community resilience in the face of emerging fire and emergency risks.

Nigeria, through the Federal Fire Service, participated in this important global engagement, contributing to international conversations on strengthening fire safety systems and building safer, more resilient communities.

FFS RIVERS STATE COMMAND PARTICIPATES IN 2026 THIRD QUARTER ROUTE MARCH

The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Rivers State Command, participated in the 2026 Third Quarter Route March organised by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) 115 Special Operations Group at the NAF Base, Port Harcourt.

The Command was represented by ASF II Charles Kalio on behalf of the State Controller. The exercise focused on promoting physical fitness, endurance, inter-agency cooperation and operational preparedness for effective emergency response.

The Command commends the 115 Special Operations Group for the initiative and reaffirms its commitment to strengthening sustained inter-agency collaboration and civil-military relations.
