Safety education is not about making young people afraid of the world.
It’s about giving them the knowledge and confidence to move through it wisely.
At ADOPT Initiative, our vision is to help build young people who are healthy, resilient and purpose-driven and that includes equipping them to protect their wellbeing, recognize unhealthy situations and know when to seek support
What safety lesson do you wish someone had taught you earlier?
We teach young people mathematics.
We teach them how to read.
We encourage them to work hard and build successful futures.
But there are other lessons that can be just as important.
How do I recognise manipulation?
When should I tell someone?
What does a healthy boundary look like?
Who can I go to when something doesn’t feel right?
These conversations shouldn’t begin only after something has happened.
Safety education is not about making young people afraid of the world.
It’s about giving them the knowledge and confidence to move through it wisely.
At ADOPT Initiative, our vision is to help build young people who are healthy, resilient and purpose-driven and that includes equipping them to protect their wellbeing, recognise unhealthy situations and know when to seek support.
What is one safety lesson you wish every young person knew before their teenage years?

Join us for The Coloured Conversations, a transformative gathering created to inspire meaningful discussions around identity, empowerment, healing, culture, advocacy, and the issues that impact young people in our communities.
This will be a special time of learning, bonding, networking, reflection, and intentional conversations and mentorship.
At Adopt Initiative, we believe every child and young person deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
This is more than a project.
This is impact.
This is why we show up.

Leadership doesn’t start when you become an adult. It starts with the choices you make today.
The way you treat people.
The friends you choose.
How you handle pressure.
Whether you take responsibility when you get it wrong.
And the courage to stand for what is right even when the crowd says otherwise.
You don’t need a title to be a leader. You just need to start where you are.
Who is one young person you think is already showing great leadership? Tag them below. 👇🏽
