Signs of those with the Holy Spirit
(Reflection on 61:1-3)

There is no way that one is anointed with the Holy Spirit and remains the same. He is no ordinary man. Everything he does becomes influenced by the Holy Spirit.

His thoughts, words and actions are all influenced by the Holy Spirit. His presence brings change and transformation.

One with the Holy Spirit brings Good News where hearts are weighed down. He brings relief and hope to wounded souls. He declares and pronounces words of liberation to all those who have become slaves of sin, their passions and past mistakes. In summary those who have the Holy Spirit in them, their presence is spiritually electrifying.

As Jesus sent out the seventy-two in Luke 10:1-9, he is sending us as people who are spirit filled to impact the world. To establish his reign of peace.

To do this effectively is to disassociate ourselves from worldly entanglements that work against the operation of the Holy Spirit.

SAINT ANTHONY OF PADUA
(Three Lesser-Known Facts about Saint Anthony of Padua)

1. He Was a Brilliant Scripture Scholar – Though best known as the patron saint of lost things, Saint Anthony was also an exceptional theologian, earning the nickname "Hammer of Heretics" for his ability to refute false teachings.

2. His Tongue Remains Miraculously Intact – When his body was exhumed years after his death, his tongue was found incorrupt, a sign of his extraordinary preaching. It is still venerated today in Padua, Italy.

3. He Once Preached to Fish – When people refused to listen to his sermon in Rimini, Italy, he turned to the sea, and legend says a great number of fish gathered, appearing to listen attentively.

May Saint Anthony of Padua continue to intercede for us. Through his intercession may we not only find our lost objects but ourselves, of who we are and the way to the Father. Amen

Our Faith to the End
(Reflection on 2 Timothy 4:1-8)

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith" (2 Timothy 4:7).

Ending the week with this passage from St. Paul seems very special to me. From Monday up till now, we've celebrated the lives of great men who devoutly served and laid down their lives along the line.

1. First was St. JUSTIN Martyr who was denounced as a Christian, arrested and beheaded during the persecution of Emperor Marcus Aurelius in 165.

2. Sts MARCELLINUS & PETER. Marcellinus was a priest and Peter was not. Both were beheaded during the emperor Diocletian's persecution.

3. St CHARLES LWANGA & Companions who were killed by the Ugandan King Mwanga. Their only offence was that they were Christians who spoke against the king's debauchery, for mudering an Anglican missionary, for praying from a book and for refusing to allow themselves to be ritually sodomized by the King. They were burnt alive.

4. St BONIFACE a Bishop on a mission to evangelize Friesland was murdered.

These were men who fought to the end, ran the race to the finish and kept the Faith.

As we come to the end of the week, the lives of these men who draws us to reexamine how we have lived throughout the week.

Lord the courage to be able to do all of these
