Police invites VDM to substantiate claims that its officers connive with kidnappers
The Nigeria Police Force has challenged social critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), to provide evidence for his claim that police officers at highway checkpoints leak travellers’ identities and movements to kidnappers.
VDM made the allegation at the recent Nigerian Bar Association Conference in Port Harcourt, accusing checkpoint officers of helping criminals target victims for ransom.
Reacting to his allegation, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, in a statement released today August 27. dismissed the claim as unsubstantiated and damaging, insisting that police personnel deployed on highways are there to prevent crime and protect motorists.
‘’For the avoidance of doubt, police personnel deployed to checkpoints and other locations nationwide are there to prevent crime, detect criminal activity and protect citizens, not to facilitate k!dnapping. Indeed, these same police officers routinely confront the very criminal elements alleged to be receiving such information. Police personnel have been ambushed, attacked and k!lled, while police stations, formations and operational assets have equally been targeted by terrorists, k!dnappers and other violent criminals.
Ani argued that police officers deserve better than blanket accusations
He invited VDM to come forward to substantiate his claims.
‘’The Nigeria Police Force hereby invites Mr. Martins Vincent Otse to produce, without delay, the evidence upon which he based these serious allegations, including any evidence that police personnel at checkpoints identify wealthy individuals and subsequently transmit information about them to k!dnappers for the purpose of facilitating their abduction. Any such information will be treated with urgency and investigated thoroughly. We encourage any member of the public with credible evidence of officer misconduct to come forward through these channels rather than through public allegation alone, so that appropriate action can be taken’’
EVERY AUGUST 26: NEW YAM FESTIVAL CELEBRATION IN IDUMUJE UGBOKO
Every August 26 is celebrated as the New Yam Festival by Christians in my dear hometown, Idumuje Ugboko, Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria.
Idumuje Ugboko is an agrarian community where farming remains a major occupation. The majority of our people cultivate yam, cassava, maize, cocoyam and other crops. Each farming season begins with the first rains, usually in March or April. Farmers immediately commence the clearing of farmlands and subsequently plant their yam seedlings, nurturing them in anticipation of the harvest season.
While growing up with my parents in the community, August 26 was always a special day of motivation, reward and thanksgiving for farmers, particularly Christians who understand the biblical principles of sowing and reaping.
Yesterday, yours truly joined Christian faithful in celebrating the harvest of yam and offering thanksgiving to Almighty God for His blessings and bountiful yields.
Of course, no New Yam celebration would be complete without a delicious meal! To mark the auspicious occasion, my dear wife, Stella Ekene Aligbe, lovingly prepared a delicious pot of Ogbono soup and pounded yam, as you can see in the attached clip.
I also appreciate my wonderful neighbours, my sister and my darling friend, Isioma Tina Chiazor, who came around to celebrate with us.
Indeed, the joy of the harvest is made more beautiful when shared with family, friends and loved ones.

10 Handworks That Can Make Any Young Nigerian Rich
If you are young, broke, unemployed or tired of depending on people for money, learning a practical skill can change your financial situation faster than waiting for a white-collar job.
But let’s be realistic: no handwork automatically makes anyone rich in one year. What can happen in one year is that you learn a valuable skill, get customers, build a small team and turn the skill into a profitable business.
Here are 10 handworks worth considering in Nigeria:
1. POP, Screeding & Interior Decoration
Learn POP ceiling installation, wall screeding, painting and basic interior finishing.
Construction and renovation happen constantly, and skilled artisans can charge per project rather than earning a fixed daily wage.
The real money: Don’t remain an installer forever. Build a small team and start taking complete contracts.
2. Plumbing
Plumbers are needed in houses, shops, hotels, offices and construction sites.
Learn pipe installation, bathroom fittings, water tanks, pumps, drainage systems and leak repairs.
A good plumber who is reliable and available can build a strong customer base through referrals.
3. Welding & Metal Fabrication
You can make gates, burglar-proofing, railings, doors, tables, chairs, canopies and other metal structures.
Start by working under an experienced welder, master the skill and gradually acquire your own equipment.
The bigger opportunity: Move from labour to manufacturing and selling your own products.
4. Electrical Installation
Learn house wiring, distribution boards, lighting installation, fault detection, CCTV installation and inverter/solar installations.
Electricity-related services are needed in virtually every building.
Someone who combines electrical knowledge with solar installation can have an especially valuable skill set.
5. Tiling & Floor Installation
Learn how to install ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles, wall tiles, interlocking stones and other flooring materials.
A highly skilled tiler can earn significantly more than an inexperienced labourer because customers care about the quality of the finished work.
Your reputation becomes your advertisement.
6. Aluminium & Glass Work
Learn to fabricate and install aluminium windows, doors, partitions, shower enclosures and glass structures.
This is particularly useful because you can earn from both fabrication and installation.
With experience, you can eventually open your own workshop.
7. Furniture & Upholstery
Learn carpentry, furniture making, sofa production, wardrobes, kitchen cabinets, beds and upholstery.
Don’t only think about making furniture for individual customers.
You can create your own designs, post them online and sell directly to customers.
8. Hairdressing & Barbering
Haircuts, braiding, hair styling and grooming are recurring services.
The advantage is that customers don’t come only once. A satisfied customer can return every few weeks.
A barber or stylist who builds a strong personal brand can eventually open a shop, employ other barbers/stylists and earn from the business rather than only from their own hands.
9. Auto Mechanic & Auto Electrical Work
Cars constantly require servicing and repairs.
Learn diagnostics, engine maintenance, brakes, suspension, air-conditioning, auto electrical systems or other specialized areas.
Specialization can make you more valuable.
Instead of being known simply as “a mechanic,” become the person people specifically call for a particular problem.
10. Welding + Solar/Inverter Installation
This combination deserves special attention.
You can learn metal fabrication while also learning solar and inverter installation. That gives you two complementary skills and multiple sources of income.
You could fabricate inverter/solar mounting structures, install systems and provide maintenance.

This is another abandoned river in Delta State road
Agbor/Amukpe Federal highway in Delta State.
It is unfortunate that Delta State has become a state where you would find a forgotten river on a major highway.

Happy 70th Birthday to Our Senior Brother, Mr. Daniel Onyenachie Osakwe
On behalf of the Management of Stelonyx Group (Stelonyx Travels, Stelonyx Direct, Stelonyx Events, and Stelonyx Savings), I wish our esteemed partner and senior brother, Mr. Daniel Onyenachie Osakwe, a resounding Happy 70th Birthday!
Mr. Osakwe is truly a mentor with a difference. His unwavering support, prayers, encouragement, and commitment to the growth of Stelonyx Group since its inception are worthy of emulation.
Mr. Dan has consistently walked the walk of faith with us, believing in our vision and contributing immensely towards its actualisation. From day one, he has never turned his back on us. His motivation, wise counsel, ideas, and prayers, particularly towards the Stelonyx Group, have been a major boost to our collective goals.
I cannot celebrate this special day without re-echoing Mr. Osakwe's remarkable contribution towards the proper coordination of Stelonyx Direct's business structure, administration, and our growing systems. Mr. Daniel Onyenachie Osakwe freely gifted us ideas worth millions from the very first day Stelonyx Direct started on Facebook. Mr. Dan Osakwe has been with us since February 5, 2019, when Stelonyx began, to the glory of God.
Mr. Dan Osakwe is a man with the Midas touch and an unsung hero in the fight for the liberation of the Idumuje Ugboko Kingdom from oppression.
I can never forget a fateful day when Mr. Dan said to me:
"Eugene, we all can't be alive and allow an individual to take over the entire Owu land unchallenged. Our fathers won't be happy with us. More so, Eugene Owu land is also your maternal land; you have to join us to do something."
He further said, "I am going home to mobilise my people and create awareness about the coming danger."
Eventually, Mr. Dan Osakwe led the Owu people to protest and appealed to all the chiefs in the community to raise awareness and consciousness about the issues that engulfed the Idumuje Ugboko Kingdom for over nine years.
Mr. Dan Osakwe is a great historical writer who combined his writing skills with activism to fight against the oppression of our land. Today, Idumuje Ugboko, to a large extent, now has a clearer direction. We give special thanks to Dan Osakwe for that first bold move, which helped the people understand the problems and encouraged them to rally behind the King in the struggle.
Oga Dan, as I fondly call you, you are indeed a blessing to the Idumuje Ugboko Kingdom and Anioma in general.
Thank you for always ensuring the successful ex*****on of every programme and task committed to you without hitches.
You are indeed an embodiment of love, sacrifice, inspiration, and faith, especially to the younger generation. Your life and commitment continue to inspire us, and we are grateful to God for bringing you into the Stelonyx family.
As you celebrate this wonderful landmark year, our prayer is that the Good Lord will bless you abundantly, grant you long life and sound health, reward your labour of love, and continue to strengthen you in all that you do, in Jesus' name. Amen.
Continue to shine forth for the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. May your new year be filled with greater joy, peace, favour, prosperity, and divine fulfilment.
Congratulations, Oga Dan, and a very Happy 70th Birthday!
With love and appreciation,
Eugene Onyeabo Aligbe

Prostate Cancer: Warning Signs Most People Ignore
Prostate cancer often develops slowly and may not cause symptoms in its early stages. However, these warning signs should never be ignored:
1. Frequent urination, especially at night.
2. Difficulty starting or stopping urination.
3. Weak or interrupted urine stream.
4. Blood in the urine or semen.
5. Pain or burning during urination (less common, but worth checking).
6. Persistent pain in the lower back, hips, or pelvis, especially if it doesn’t improve.
7. Unexplained weight loss, fatigue, or bone pain, which may occur in more advanced disease.
Important to Know
These symptoms do not always mean prostate cancer. They are commonly caused by non-cancerous conditions such as an enlarged prostate or prostate infection. The only way to know the cause is to be evaluated by a healthcare professional.
When to Get Checked
* Men 50 years and older should discuss prostate cancer screening with their doctor.
* Men at higher risk (such as those with a father or brother who had prostate cancer, or men of African ancestry) should consider discussing screening from around age 45, or earlier in some cases.
Early detection can make prostate cancer much easier to treat and greatly improves the chances of a successful outcome.
