Ikechukwu Ezenagu, also known as Muomiri Afuluanya, has been ordered to be remanded at the Amawbia Correctional Centre by the Anambra State High Court in Awka, under the jurisdiction of Justice Jude Obiora.
Ezenagu was brought to court from a hospital, where his lawyer, Barrister Kingsley Awuka, sought bail on health grounds. He further requested that Ezenagu be allowed to remain hospitalized until the next scheduled hearing.
However, the prosecution, represented by Barrister Tobechukwu Nweke, contested the bail request and urged the court to keep Ezenagu in remand while the bail motion is being decided.
In his ruling, Justice Obiora stated that a hospital is not a legitimate facility for holding a defendant, leading to the decision to remand Ezenagu at the Amawbia Correctional Centre.
The case has been adjourned to June 19, 2026
