Mira Rai

From a Remote Village to a Global Trail-Running Icon🫡🇳🇵

Born in a remote village in Bhojpur, Nepal, Mira Rai rose from carrying heavy loads along mountain trails to becoming an internationally acclaimed ultrarunner and the 2017 National Geographic Adventurer of the Year.

But her greatest achievement goes beyond the finish line. Through the Mira Rai Initiative, she is helping create opportunities for girls from disadvantaged backgrounds through sports scholarships, education, mentorship, and professional training—encouraging them to believe in their potential and pursue their dreams.

From the trails of rural Nepal to the global stage, Mira Rai continues to run not only for herself, but for the next generation.
