http://comp.ku.edu.np/research-labs The Information and Language Processing group was formed in 2004.

Ever since its inception, it has been working basically on Language Technologies and Natural Language Processing. Some of the Projects that the group has worked with are Dobhase English to Nepali web based Machine Translation System, NepaLinux – a completely localized Linux Distribution in Nepali, Nepali Spell checker etc. The Lab has been working in close co-operation with the partners – Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya, Lalitpur, PatanDhoka, Nepal and Central Department of Linguistics, Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur, Kathmandu, more recently developed into a consortium organization, the Language Technology Kendra (LTK). Enabling the use of Nepali and other Nepal’s languages in the recent Language Technologies remains the current focus of Research and Development of the Lab. The recent involvements of the Lab are the Nepali Parallel Corpus Project in collaboration with the Microsoft Research Connections, U.S, Google Products Translation to Nepali with Google Inc., and the Opinion and Argumentation Mining Project with the University Grants Commission, Nepal. The Lab has strong ties with International Research Groups working on Language Technologies and the International Summer School in Advanced Language Engineering 2012 held at Kathmandu University is part of the engagement.
