🐧 Linux File System Explained!

Understanding the Linux file system is a fundamental skill for every Linux administrator, DevOps engineer, and cybersecurity professional.

From the root ( / ) directory to essential folders like /etc, /home, /var, /usr, /bin, /sbin, and /tmp, each directory has a specific purpose in managing the operating system, applications, user data, logs, and system configurations.

Mastering the Linux directory structure makes troubleshooting easier, improves system administration skills, and helps you navigate any Linux environment with confidence.

💬 Question: Which Linux directory do you work with the most—/etc, /var, /home, or /usr? Share your answer in the comments!

Day - 3 🚀
Continuing My Linux & Cybersecurity Journey with Red Hat Academy

Today, I explored one of the newest features in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)RHEL Lightspeed, an AI-powered command-line assistant designed to simplify Linux system administration.

📚 Today's Learning Highlights:

✅ Understanding how RHEL Lightspeed helps Linux administrators with AI-powered guidance.
✅ Learning to ask clear and effective questions in the terminal using the `c chat` command.
✅ Using AI to get command recommendations, explanations, and troubleshooting guidance.
✅ Analyzing command output by piping it directly into the AI assistant.
✅ Understanding how AI can help interpret log files and configuration files.
✅ Learning that AI-generated responses should always be reviewed before applying them to production systems.
✅ Troubleshooting an Apache (`httpd`) service issue with AI assistance.
✅ Using `systemctl`, `journalctl`, `top`, `ps`, and `sed` while solving real-world Linux administration problems.
✅ Understanding how AI improves productivity while keeping administrators responsible for validating every solution.

One of the biggest lessons I learned today is that AI is not a replacement for Linux knowledge—it is a powerful assistant that helps us learn faster, troubleshoot smarter, and become more productive.

Every chapter is helping me strengthen my Linux foundation as I continue working toward my goal of becoming a Cybersecurity Professional. Step by step, command by command, I'm building practical skills through hands-on labs and real-world scenarios.

Day - 3

🚀 My Linux Learning Journey with Red Hat Academy |

Over the past few days, I have been building my Linux foundation through Red Hat Academy. Every lesson introduces a new concept, and every lab gives me hands-on experience that brings me one step closer to my goal of becoming a Cybersecurity Professional.

📚 So far, I have learned:

🔹 What Linux is and why it is widely used.
🔹 What makes Linux powerful, including its open-source nature, modular design, and command-line interface (CLI).
🔹 The difference between the Linux Kernel and Linux Distributions.
🔹 Basic Linux file and directory management.
🔹 Essential Linux commands such as `pwd`, `ls`, `cd`, `cat`, `head`, `tail`, `wc`, `history`, and `date`.
🔹 Bash shell basics and useful keyboard shortcuts to improve productivity.
🔹 The difference between CLI and GUI and where each is used.
🔹 How to use Linux Manual Pages (`man`) to access built-in documentation.
🔹 Understanding manual sections (1, 5, and 8).
🔹 Searching documentation using `man -k` and viewing quick descriptions with `man -f`.
🔹 Basic Vim (`vi`) usage, including opening files at specific line numbers.
🔹 Redirecting command output using `>` and `>>`.
🔹 Commands such as `hostname`, `echo`, `cat`, `date`, and `getenforce`.
🔹 The basics of Red Hat subscriptions and why system registration is important.
🔹 Introduction to `rhc` and `subscription-manager` for registering Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.

💡 One thing I enjoy about Linux is that every command teaches me something new. Instead of only reading theory, I'm practicing commands in the terminal and completing labs to strengthen my understanding.

This is only the beginning of my journey. My next goal is to continue learning Linux system administration, networking, scripting, and eventually move deeper into Cybersecurity, Ethical Hacking, and Pe*******on Testing.

Learning never stops. One command at a time. 💻🔐

Day - 2

📚 Learning Journey – Linux Fundamentals with Red Hat Academy🚀

Today, I completed another Linux fundamentals lesson and gained hands-on experience with Linux local documentation and command-line tools.

Here's what I learned today:

✅ Using the `man` command to access Linux manual pages.
✅ Understanding manual page sections (1, 5, 8, etc.).
✅ Searching documentation with `man -k` and viewing one-line descriptions with `man -f`.
✅ Finding command options using local documentation instead of searching online.
✅ Using `hostname`, `date`, and `getenforce` commands.
✅ Redirecting command output to a file using `>>`.
✅ Opening files at a specific line using `vi +2 filename`.
✅ Building confidence in navigating Linux through the command line.

Every lesson strengthens my Linux foundation and brings me one step closer to my goal of becoming a Cybersecurity Professional. Looking forward to learning more and sharing my progress along the way! 🔐💻
