Planning to build your first home? Before you start, make sure you avoid the mistakes that can lead to unnecessary costs and construction problems.
Here are 3 common mistakes to watch out for:
• Rushing the planning
• Having an unclear budget plan
• Choosing price over quality
A well-planned project starts with informed decisions and a focus on long-term quality.

Pangre Ghar — The Wheelhouse
Kathmandu is home to a building that makes you wonder, “Yo ghar kasari adiyeko cha?”
Designed in 1964 by engineer and architect Shankar Nath Rimal, Pangre Ghar was created with an unconventional structural concept. Four large concrete supports at the ground level give the building a wheel-like appearance, while its two projecting upper floors create the impression of a massive box balanced above them.
Its large ribbon windows, open views, and reinforced concrete construction made it an especially interesting example of structural experimentation in Nepal at the time.
Today, this iconic structure is known as the Exam Control Office of the Institute of Engineering, Pulchowk, and has become a familiar part of the academic journey for thousands of engineering students.
Pangre Ghar is more than a unique-looking building — it is a piece of Nepal’s architectural history, where engineering and imagination came together.
