Hi everybody! Hiwai here. For those who are new, I’m a 35 year old Dad from Papakura and alongside my wife Mykah we run our small business - Aotealoha!
After moving back to Aotearoa from Hawaii in 2023, we found it difficult to find Hawaiian Style Poke in Auckland, so we learned to make it ourselves. And in time, after procrastinating for ages, we finally decided to run it up and start our own little gig.
For many of us growing up in Aotearoa, raw fish is eaten only one way - in coconut cream. But after I tried Poke in Hawaii, I knew it would be a hit back home. The word ‘Poke’ in Òlelo Hawai’i means to slice or cut into small chunks. Traditionally the dish is made of cubed marinated Raw Fish, often Tuna - served on warm rice. Nowhere in the world does Poke better than Hawaii and we do our very best to replicate the experience.
We are based in South Auckland and we are currently operating as a food stall at various night markets through out Auckland. We also provide catering for events and will soon provide a delivery option. (Cash, EFT and transfers are all available payment options). Please free to reach out if you have any questions.
We’re super excited to bring the flavour and Aloha of Hawaiian food to Aotearoa, and we truely appreciate all your love and support. Thank you for following!
