Unboxing day: Simagic DS-8X
The Simagic DS-8X dual-mode shifter, and this thing means business straight out of the box. Steel and aluminium construction, comes in at around 2kg, so it's got real heft the second you pick it up.
The whole selling point is versatility: one mechanical switch on the side flips it between full 8-speed H-pattern (with a locking collar you lift to unlock 7th, 8th and reverse) and sequential mode with a proper spring-loaded "clunk" on every shift. No swapping parts, no rebuilding just flick and go.
Already dialing in the feel with the adjustment screw on the back to tighten up the throw. First impressions: quality build, satisfying shifts, ready to find out how it holds up lap after lap.
