❄️ It’s not every day that we get to see snow in Pōneke! But as magical as it is, we couldn't stop thinking about everyone who will spend tonight outside without the means of seeking warmer shelter - especially the rabbits who are stuck in flimsy, drafty hutches 😔 It’s weather events like these that prove why it's so important to have high standards for housing. Everyone deserves a warm, dry home!

🐰 Whether your rabbits are inside or out tonight, please take some time to ensure they have access to extra bedding to snuggle down into. With more snow expected to reach low levels overnight, they'll certainly need it!! 👀

‼️ Update: Winslow is home!! Thank you for everyone who looked out for him, in the end, Winslow come to the very wise conclusion that there's no place like home and made his own way back safely this morning.

Winslow has gone missing from Domanski Crescent overnight, 15/16th July.

As an agouti coat, Winslow could easily be mistaken for a wild rabbit. This adds another level of concern and his whānau would very much love to have him home safe asap - including his bonded sister, who is missing him.

Winslow is part Flemish Giant, so if you see any large wild-looking bunnies in the Ōwhiro Bay area, please get in touch 🐇

Thankfully, Winslow is microchipped.

📸 Our friends Clover and Arlo would not be alive today had they been sleeping in their outdoor enclosure on April 20th. Thankfully, their humans had snuggled them up inside the night before, so they were within reach at 4am when they woke to discover rapidly rising floodwaters taking over their home.

Clover and Arlo were quickly placed inside a washing basket and evacuated from the house ontop of their human's head, from floodwaters that had quickly surpassed chin height.

Their sturdy, purpose-built outdoor enclosure was already completely submerged before anyone knew what was happening, and was ultimately destroyed by the force of the water and the debris that came with it.

Even if your rabbits prefer being outside, Clover and Arlo's ordeal is evidence that a little temporary discomfort is worth the price for safety.

📸 Arlo and Clover dining out at The Burrow, where they bunkered down for a month while their family searched for temporary housing that would allow them to stay together while their home is being repaired.

‼️ Seeking information about a hit and run car crash that occurred on Sunday, 24th May, at 5.00pm on Glenmore Ave outside of the Kārori tunnel ‼️

This is not the post I thought we would be making today. After a seven hour day on the road transporting rabbits and delivering supplies to fosterers yesterday, we should be sharing photos and updates. Instead, we're hoping you can help us find the driver who crossed the centreline and hit us at speed.

Thankfully, Helen was able to swerve just enough that instead of crashing into us head on, the driver crashed into the front wheel, travelled the length of our car, and then fled the scene despite significant damage to their own vehicle.

‼️ If you were in the Kārori/Kelburn area around 5pm last night, did you see a blue Ford hatchback with a decent chunk of the front drivers side missing?

Do you have a dash cam that might have captured the car around Glenmore Street, the Kārori tunnel, Chaytor Street, or Raroa Crescent?

If so, please check! Because we would love to return this hubcap and wing mirror.... 👀

Secondly, if you happen to know of a Toyota FunCargo (or similar) car for sale, please let us know! It must be disability-friendly; with enough space for a wheelchair/walker in the back, and a side opening boot.

⚠⛈ HEAVY RAIN WARNING (ORANGE) - TARARUA RANGE, KAPITI AND ALL OF WELLINGTON (INCLUDING HUTT VALLEY) ⚠⛈

MetService has issued a Heavy Rain Warning for the above areas from 2pm Saturday to 2am Sunday.
50-70mm is expected to accumulate over that time, with up to 70-90 about the ranges and in localised areas with possible thunderstorms. Peak rates will be 10-20mm/h.
