❌ No to mining in Sibuyan ❌

6 politicians (You can find their names on Romblon News Network) approved a mining project endorsement in Sibuyan Island. These officials voted as if Sibuyan Island belonged to them. It does not. Its forests, rivers, and mountains belong to the Filipino people and to future generations.

This decision came despite the concerns raised by many residents and despite Barangay España's refusal to endorse the project.

Every elected official must be accountable for the decisions they make. The people have the right to know who voted in favor and who stood against it.

Sibuyan is one of the Philippines' greatest natural treasures. Once it's damaged, no amount of money can bring it back.

Sibuyan Island, home to the majestic Mount Guiting-Guiting Natural Park, is facing one of the greatest threats in its history.

The proposed mining activities threaten the Olango Trail, including Camp 1 and the Olango River. The Olango River, our last reliable water source before the ascend and several nearby rivers are feared to be affected by mining operations and waste drainage if the project proceeds. Beyond mountaineering, these rivers are vital to the communities and biodiversity of Sibuyan Island.
