𝗖𝗖𝗦 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗦 𝗝𝗢𝗜𝗡 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗕𝗔𝗦𝗜𝗟𝗔𝗡 𝗜𝗖𝗧 𝗦𝗨𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗧, 𝗘𝗠𝗕𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗚𝗜𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗜𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗩𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗙𝗨𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘-𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗬 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚

Students from the College of Computing Studies (CCS) of Basilan State College (BaSC) actively participated in the 1st Basilan ICT Summit on June 18, 2026, held at the Isabela City Civic and Cultural Center–Binuangan Gym with the theme “Digital Basilan: Secure, Connected and Empowered.”

Organized by the Provincial Government Office – ICT Unit in collaboration with DICT Region IX and BASULTA, the summit brought together government leaders, ICT professionals, educators, industry partners, and students to discuss how technology can help build a smarter and more connected Basilan.

Throughout the day, CCS students attended keynote talks and panel discussions that tackled important topics in today's digital world. Among the featured presentations were “Smart Communities: How to Build Them, How to Run Them, and Why Basilan is Ready” by LabPH, “Guarding the Digital Space: Responsible, Safe, and Ethical AI Adoption” by Ms. Yolynne Medina of Universidad de Zamboanga, Tech Talks by Mr. Mario S. Rodriguez of Ateneo de Zamboanga University, “e-Governance and Digital Services” by Engr. Jacob F. Mohammad of DICT Region IX, “Data Privacy Act (RA 10173)” by Atty. Nur-Aiza Gagarra, and “Cybercrime Awareness” by PLT Esnang S. Sarapuddin of the Basilan Police Cyber Response Team.

One of the highlights of the summit was the presentation of the Raayat Basilan Mobile Application, a digital platform designed to provide easier access to government information, services, and updates for the people of Basilan.

Beyond the insightful discussions, the event also gave students a chance to enjoy interactive activities. Many CCS participants joined the Spin-the-Wheel Challenge for exciting prizes, visited the free photobooth to capture memories with friends, and availed themselves of the free GCash registration, making the experience both educational and enjoyable.

The active participation of BaSC's CCS students reflected their interest in technology, innovation, and lifelong learning. More than just attending a summit, they gained new ideas, explored emerging digital trends, and experienced firsthand how collaboration and innovation can help shape the future of Basilan.

𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝟳.𝟬 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗼; 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗦𝗮𝗻, 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗮𝗼, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗭𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝗮.

𝗝𝗨𝗦𝗧 𝗜𝗡 — A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Mindanao at 7:37 AM Monday, 8 June 2026, and caused strong shaking in the region, from General Santos City to Zamboanga Peninsula.

The PHIVOLCS measured 13 km south of General Santos City, at a depth of 10 km. Intensity VII shaking was felt in General Santos City, Koronadal, Santa Maria in Davao Occidental, and Palimbang and Senator Ninoy Aquino in Sultan Kudarat.

The intensities of the earthquakes were Intensity V in Davao City, Kidapawan, and Zamboanga del Norte, and Intensity III in Butuan City and Zamboanga del Sur. Intensity II light tremors were reported as far as Zamboanga Sibugay and adjoining island provinces of Basilan.

Extensive shaking, more than 1 minute, was reported across affected areas in Mindanao.

𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗕𝗘𝗟𝗔 𝗖𝗜𝗧𝗬— The Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) has officially mandated the immediate implementation of 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗺 𝗡𝗼. 𝟭𝟮, 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, reinforcing a strict "No Uniform, No ID, No Entry" policy across all campus access points.

Under the new directive, students are required to wear their prescribed uniforms during regular school days. The only exception provided is for Wednesdays, designated as "Washday," during which students are permitted to wear decent civilian attire.

The administration has outlined specific clothing provisions for upperclassmen to ensure compliance:

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱-𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: Those yet to acquire the updated uniform set are directed to wear dark pants paired with a plain white polo or t-shirt for males, and a white blouse for females.

𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵-𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: These students are advised to utilize their respective OJT, internship, or practice teaching uniforms while on the college grounds.

Furthermore, the memorandum emphasizes that school identification cards must be visibly worn or hung around the neck at all times while within college premises. Students are encouraged to coordinate with their respective departments to ensure full adherence to these updated security and campus standards.
