Description/Definition of Adjustable Bed from About.com Furniture

An adjustable bed is a bed that lets you adjust its position with the help of a motorized foundation. You can adjust the bed's position by using devices such as buttons or remote controls. The mattress is supported on top of the motorized foundation. An adjustable bed lets the user raise or lower the foot and head of the bed as desired. These beds are usually recommended for people with certain medical conditions. People suffering from breathing problems, sleep apnea or acid reflux disease can benefit greatly from them, as can someone who needs to keep their legs elevated. However, the use of adjustable beds is not limited to people with health concerns. These beds can also be used watching TV or to read in bed. Since most adjustable beds can be used with headboards and foot boards, it is easy to integrate them into existing decors.
