🇳🇿 𝐁𝐢𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐙𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐬! 🌿🇳🇿

Starting 24 August 2026, Immigration New Zealand is expanding the Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) Resident Visa by introducing two new residence pathways. If you've been waiting for the right moment to make your move, this could be it!

Here is a quick look at the updates:

🚀 𝟏. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲

Made for professionals with a solid work history and 5+ years of total relevant work experience. It’s a great option if you have deep industry expertise under your belt.

🛠️ 𝟐. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲

Designed especially for those working in trades and technician occupations. You'll just need to show clear evidence of your formal qualifications and hands-on work experience.

💡 𝐀 𝐅𝐞𝐰 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐊𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝:

Your work experience needs to be directly related to your current job or job offer.

To count as "skilled" New Zealand work experience, it has to meet the required pay threshold.

You'll need solid proof—like employment agreements, tax records, job descriptions, or a certificate of service for overseas work. (Just a heads-up: self-employment doesn't count under these specific rules).

📊 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐚𝐲?

It's still around, and it's actually getting some great updates! 𝐁𝐲 𝟐𝟒 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭, 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧:

Grab extra points for New Zealand qualifications.

Get more points for overseas bachelor’s degrees and postgraduate certificates.

Reach that golden 6-point threshold with less New Zealand work experience.

Curious about how these changes affect your personal situation? Let’s figure it out together!

To know more about your options, 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨@𝐧𝐳𝐢𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞.𝐜𝐨𝐦 and we'll gladly point you in the right direction.
