Long post ahead! But we know some how relate kayo dito.…....

THE EMPLOYEE WHO NEVER RESIGNED

At first, wala namang problema.

She was the kind of employee every supervisor would want to have.

Maaga pumasok.
Tinatapos ang trabaho.
Hindi pala-reklamo.

Kapag may kailangang gawin, ginagawa.
Kapag may absent, siya ang sumasalo.
Kapag may urgent report, siya ang tinatawagan.

Kapag may bagong staff na hindi pa marunong, siya ang nagtuturo.
At kapag may meeting na kailangan ng representative from the team…

“Siya na lang.”

Because she was reliable.
Because she could be trusted.
Because “alam naman niya na ‘yan.”
For a while, okay lang.

She was proud of what she was doing.
Until one day, something changed.

Hindi siya nag-resign.

Hindi rin siya nagreklamo.

She simply stopped giving more than what was expected.

Dati, kapag tapos na ang trabaho niya, nagtatanong pa siya:

“Ma'am/Sir, may kailangan pa po ba?”

Ngayon:

“Okay na po ba ito?”

Dati, kapag may problema ang team, she would volunteer to help solve it.

Ngayon:

“Hindi naman po sa akin naka-assign.”

Dati, she would stay a little longer to finish something important.

Ngayon, exactly 5:00 PM.
And technically…

she was still doing her job.

This is what many people now call quiet quitting.

But maybe quiet quitting isn't always about laziness.

Sometimes, it's a symptom.

A symptom that somewhere along the way, the employee stopped seeing a reason to give more.

Then another thing happened.

She started becoming resentful.
Every time someone asked her to handle another task:
“Ako na naman?”

Every time someone asked her to train another person:

“Bakit ako?”

Every time management needed someone dependable:

“Alam ko na kung sino ang tatawagin nila.”

She was still performing.

But internally, she was already asking:

“What's in it for me?”

That's where resenteeism can begin.

You're physically present.

You're doing the work.

But emotionally, you've already started checking out.

And then she started preparing herself.

Updated her résumé.

Joined professional groups.

Looked at job postings.

Started attending trainings.

Not necessarily because she was leaving tomorrow.

But because she wanted to have an option.

Career cushioning.

“Just in case.”

And here's where the story becomes interesting.

Because while she was preparing herself to leave…

the organization was preparing to give her more responsibility.

A supervisor suddenly approached her.

“We trust you.”

“We'd like you to take the lead on this.”

“Can you supervise the new staff for now?”

“Can you coordinate with the other units?”

“Can you handle this project?”

And because she was competent…
she said yes.

Again.
And again.
And again.

Soon, she was doing things that looked very much like the work of a higher-level employee.

She was coordinating.
Delegating.
Solving problems.
Mentoring new employees.
Making decisions.
Representing the unit.
Handling difficult people.

Sometimes, even making decisions that her own supervisor was supposed to be making.

But officially?

Same position.
Same title.
Same desk.
Same salary.
Same designation.

And sometimes, the only thing that changed was the number of things people expected from her.

That's what makes quiet promotion so interesting.

Because unlike quiet quitting…
quiet promotion can look like commitment.

The employee doesn't say:
“I'm leaving.”

She says:
“Sige, ako na.”

And that's why it can be difficult for leaders to recognize.

Because from the outside, everything looks fine.

The employee is productive.
The employee is dependable.
The employee is always available.
The employee gets things done.

But somewhere inside that employee is another question:

“Am I being developed… or am I simply being used because I'm capable?”

And this is where leadership becomes important.

Because the problem isn't always that employees don't want to work.

Sometimes, they want to grow.

They want to be heard.

They want to understand where they're going.

They want someone to recognize their potential—not just their productivity.

And sometimes, what they need isn't another instruction.

Not another reminder.

Not another performance evaluation.

Not another “You need to improve.”

Sometimes, they need a leader who can sit down with them and ask:

“How are you really doing?”
“What is preventing you from performing at your best?”
“What do you want to develop?”
“What kind of role do you see yourself taking in the future?”
“How can I help you get there?”

That is where coaching becomes more than a management technique.

It becomes a leadership practice.

Because a good leader doesn't simply ask:

“How can I get more work out of this employee?”

A coaching leader asks:

“How can I help this person become better?”

And perhaps that's the difference between having employees who merely stay…

and having people who choose to grow with the organization.

Because sometimes, the employee who appears to be quiet quitting isn't really saying,

“I don't want to work anymore.”
Maybe they're saying:
“I don't know why I'm giving more anymore.”

And sometimes, the employee experiencing a quiet promotion isn't really saying,

“Give me a higher title.”

Maybe they're saying:
“If you see that I have potential, will you help me develop it?”

That is the conversation leaders need to learn how to have.

Leading isn't just about assigning work.
Leading is about developing people.

And one of the most powerful ways to do that…
is through coaching.

LEADING THROUGH COACHING

Because people don't always leave organizations.

Sometimes, they leave the way they are being led.

And sometimes…

the person you're about to lose is the very person you should have been developing.

The hardest work is often the least visible.

People rarely see the preparation behind a successful presentation. They don't notice the late nights spent solving problems. They don't see the extra effort to help a colleague, improve a process, or prevent mistakes before they happen.

But when something goes wrong?

That single error can overshadow months of consistent, reliable work.
It's frustrating—but it's also part of professional life.

Don't let a mistake define your value, and don't let a lack of recognition diminish your commitment to excellence.

Your character is shaped by what you do when no one is watching. Your reputation is built by the consistency of your actions, not by a single moment.
Recognition may come late. Sometimes it may not come at all.
But growth never goes to waste.
Every challenge teaches you. Every unnoticed effort strengthens you. Every day you choose integrity over shortcuts, you're investing in a version of yourself that no criticism can take away.

Keep showing up. Keep improving. Keep doing work you're proud of—even when no one applauds.

Because excellence isn't about being noticed. It's about becoming someone who can be trusted, every single day.
