🇺🇦 Ukraine’s attacks on 🇷🇺 Russia’s fuel infrastructure are creating an unexpected problem for Moscow: Central Asia is starting to look elsewhere.

For decades, countries across Central Asia have depended heavily on Russia for fuel. But Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries, combined with Moscow’s restrictions on fuel exports, are now threatening that system.

🇰🇬 Kyrgyzstan and 🇹🇯 Tajikistan are particularly exposed. Around 90% of their fuel normally comes from Russia, forcing both countries to search for supplies from neighboring states and 🇨🇳 China before winter.

🇺🇿 Uzbekistan is also looking elsewhere, turning to 🇬🇪 Georgia and 🇮🇶 Iraq as domestic production struggles to keep pace with demand.

For Taiwan, a Chinese naval exercise with Indonesia near the island is naturally sensitive. For 🇵🇭 the Philippines and 🇻🇳 Vietnam, it also raises questions about how far Indonesia's non-alignment can go before it begins affecting ASEAN's response to China.

As the clashes intensified, inmates escaped from Surman prison—including dangerous prisoners who remain at large. Some have reportedly joined armed groups, while authorities warn the humanitarian situation is "very serious."
