My Tried-and-Tested Lunch Jars Review: 3 Lunch Boxes That Keep Food Warm Until Lunch Time π±β€οΈ
As a mom who prepares baon at 5:00 AM, one of my biggest concerns is making sure my kids still enjoy a warm meal during lunch. I'm happy to say that these three lunch jars have all passed the test! By 1:00 PM, the food is still warm, which makes a huge difference. The kids actually finish their baon because their food is still comforting and enjoyable to eat.
1. Zojirushi 3 Containers

Pros:
β
Biggest containers among the three
β
Most affordable option
β
Comes with chopsticks
Cons:
β Plastic containers
β It's difficult to find a lunch bag that fits it, so my son usually brings it as is. His spoon and fork go separately in his school bag.
π― Best for: Kids with bigger appetites or those who need larger portions. My bunso use this.
2. Zojirushi Purple Lunch Jar (3 Containers with Bag)

Pros:
β
Lightweight and easy for kids to carry
β
Comes with 3 different-sized containers
β
The insulated bag has extra room for biscuits and additional snacks
Cons:
β Smallest capacity among the three
β Plastic containers, so I try to be extra careful when washing them
π― Best for: Younger kids or light eaters who need a more compact lunch box. My JHS daughter use this. Mabagal kumain so I split her rice meal into 2 containers and I just add several biscuits in her bag so she can eat during class.
3. Thermo Cafe Lunch Box 1.8L

Pros:
β
Stainless steel containers are easier to clean
β
Comes with a small spoon
β
Keeps food warm the longest among the three
Cons:
β Quite heavy, especially for younger kids
β All containers are the same size
π― Best for: Families who prioritize durability and maximum heat retention. So this is what my husband use.
My Verdict
Honestly, all three are excellent at keeping food warm. The choice really depends on your child's needs:
π₯ Best Value: Zojirushi 3 Containers
π₯ Best for Everyday School Use: Zojirushi Purple Lunch Jar
π₯ Best Heat Retention & Easiest to Clean: Thermo Cafe Lunch Box
As a busy mom, these lunch jars make preparing baon so much easier. The kids look forward to their meals, and more importantly, nauubos nila ang baon nila kasi warm pa rin pagdating ng lunch time. β€οΈ
Tips for Keeping Food Warm Longer
βοΈ Preheat the jars with hot water for a few minutes before putting the food inside.
βοΈ Know your bagets' eating schedule and arrange the jars accordingly. For example, I place:
β’ Top container β Morning snack
β’ Middle container β Lunch
β’ Bottom container β Afternoon snack
This way, they only open the container they need at that time and don't expose the other jars unnecessarily.
βοΈ Remind your kids to close the lunch bag properly after every meal or snack. Keeping the insulated bag closed helps maintain the warmth of the remaining jars inside.
For fellow moms looking for a way to send warm homemade meals to school, these three lunch jars are definitely worth considering. ππ±π
