Race Del Rosario Criticizes Viral Skincare Post Using Rene Baterbonia’s Image

Lawyer and content creator Race Del Rosario criticized a viral image showing the late student-athlete Rene Baterbonia as the face of a supposed skincare product called “RENE-venating Skin Essentials.”

Del Rosario questioned why Rene’s photo was connected to a rejuvenating set and said people should show more respect to someone who has passed away.

Based on available reports, the image appears to be satire rather than a confirmed commercial product. There is no verified information showing that Rene’s family approved it or that the product is officially being sold under his name. The post has nevertheless raised concerns about using the image of a deceased person for jokes, attention, or promotion.

Rene was recently honored posthumously by Davao City for his achievements, humility, perseverance, and contribution to basketball.

Humor and creativity should still have limits. A person’s memory deserves dignity, especially while family and friends are still grieving. Before sharing viral content, we should ask whether it honors someone’s legacy or merely uses their name to gain attention.

BB Gandanghari is now being talked about online after rumors surfaced that she may direct a true-to-life movie based on the life story of Rene “Bobet” Baterbonia.
According to circulating posts, the project is not just an MMK-style episode, but a possible full movie so more netizens, basketball fans, and Filipinos can watch and understand Rene’s story on a bigger platform.
If true, this could be one of the most emotional projects connected to Rene’s name.
Because Rene’s life was more than basketball.
He was a son who dreamed of lifting his family from hardship, a young athlete who carried so much hope, and a friend whose story touched thousands of people online.
That is also why many netizens are now asking:
Who will play Rene?
Hindi basta role ang pagganap kay Rene. It needs someone who can show his humility, his probinsyano heart, his basketball dream, and the quiet weight of a young man who wanted to give his family a better life.
If this movie pushes through, many are hoping it will be made with care, respect, and truth.
Because Rene’s story is not just something people want to watch.
It is something many people still feel. 🕊️🏀
