OLONGAPO CITY โ€” Various barangays in Olongapo City, together with the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, joined a water training activity led by the Bureau of Fire Protection on August 3, 2026, as part of the cityโ€™s continuing preparations for possible calamities and emergency situations.

The training focused on strengthening the readiness of barangay responders and disaster personnel in handling water-related incidents. Participants took part in practical exercises designed to improve coordination, response skills, and confidence during emergencies involving flooding, rescue operations, and other weather-related hazards.

The activity highlighted the importance of preparedness at the community level, especially as barangays often serve as the first line of response during disasters. By improving the skills of local responders, the city aims to ensure that help can be mobilized faster and more efficiently when residents are placed at risk.

The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office - Olongapo City, with the support of the BFP, continues to promote preparedness programs that equip local responders with the knowledge, discipline, and skills needed during emergency situations.
