There's a fascinating claim linked to Quran 15:74 — the verse describing a city being "overturned" and struck by "stones of baked clay" is often connected by believers to modern geological insights about the Dead Sea region. Sitting right on the Dead Sea Transform fault line, a powerful earthquake there could trigger soil liquefaction, causing the upper ground layers to sink or flip, while forcing buried sulfur and bitumen deposits upward — materials that could ignite and fall back as hardened, burnt debris. For many believers, this is seen as remarkable: a text written 1,400 years ago appearing to align with geological mechanisms science only understood much later.
