Research and Development Labs

A high-level delegation led by Prof. Dr. Nusrat Shah, Vice Chancellor, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), Larkana, visited the DOST-funded Research & Development Laboratory, Public Health Reference Laboratory (PHRL) and IPDM at Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar.

The delegation also visited the Advanced Centre for Genomic Technologies (ACGT), Biorisk Management Training Centre (BRMTC), Microbiology, and Molecular Biology Labs. They appreciated the ongoing lab work and research & innovation activities at KMU laboratories.

Prof. Dr. Yasar Mehmood Yousafzai (TI), Director IPDM/PHRL, welcomed the delegation and briefed them on labs mandate, key achievements, and contributions to public health through research, molecular diagnostics, genomic technologies, biosafety, biosecurity, and workforce capacity development.

The visit concluded with an interactive discussion, during which both institutions shared their experiences and emphasized the importance of collaboration in strengthening the research and health systems.

Today at IPDM, PHRL and R&D lab we had the honor of welcoming an international delegation Led by Prof. Dr. Yasar Mehmood Yousafzai, TI.

Prof. Dr. Nobuko Tuno and her team from Japan visited our labs to plan a joint initiative on Leishmaniasis and Dengue research.

This collaboration will strengthen diagnostics and research to build healthier communities in KP and beyond.
