to promote international understanding through children's books
to give children everywhere the opportunity to have access to books with high literary and artistic standards
to encourage the publication and distribution of quality children's books, especially in developing countries
to provide support and training for those involved with children and children's literature
to stimulate research and scholarly works in the field of children's literature

Membership includes authors and illustrators, publishers and editors, translators, journalists and critics, teachers, university professors and students, librarians and booksellers, social workers and parents. PBBY's different activities are related to face the consequences of the loss of Palestinian children rights, due to long years of oppressive occupation, mostly their right to books and education. Thus PBBY supports literacy and children culture, and encourages reading and the promotion of quality of books in Palestine.

Bardem backs petition to strip Pink of her UNICEF ambassadorship
Spanish actor Javier Bardem has shared on Instagram a Change(.)org campaign calling on UNICEF to remove Pink as a goodwill ambassador.
The petition has already passed 180,000 signatures.
It started with Pink’s reaction to Macklemore. The rapper shouted “Free Palestine” at an Ed Sheeran concert. She shared a post accusing him of anti-Israel propaganda.
Pink later defended herself by talking about her Jewish background, children “on both sides,” and her UNICEF role. She said she was not asking for anyone to be dropped from the tour.
Supporters of the campaign say that stance does not fit with defending all children, including those in Gaza. Bardem backed it in his Stories.
UNICEF has not removed her.

When Dehumanization Becomes Normal
Sarai Givati’s words have sparked an enormous reaction because they reflect an increasingly troubling logic within Israeli society: turning Palestinians, even from childhood, into a threat defined by what they might become.
A child cannot lose their status as a civilian because of a prediction about their future.
Much less can a collective identity become a presumption of guilt.
When that way of thinking begins to become normalized within a society, dehumanization ceases to be an individual excess and begins to reveal a systemic problem.
And perhaps that is what is truly disturbing.
What kind of future does a society have when it is considered normal to think this way?
