Stop saying "yes" before you know what you're saying yes to.

Too many coaches, leaders, and consultants accept opportunities based on assumptions. Then they find themselves in projects that don't align with their strengths, values, or expectations.

The solution isn't to say "no."

It's to get curious before you commit.

The most successful coaching partnerships begin with thoughtful conversations, not quick decisions. Ask questions. Explore expectations. Understand the people involved. Clarify the outcomes. And trust your intuition before you agree to the assignment.

Curiosity doesn't close doors. It helps you choose the right ones.

πŸŽ₯ In this reel, Marie Quigley and Jeanine Bailey share why great contracting starts with curiosity, clear expectations, and the confidence to ask the questions that matter.

🎧 Listen to the full Podcast Episode 259 and let us know about the one question you always ask before saying "yes" to a new opportunity? We'd love to hear it in the comments.

Most coaching challenges don't begin during the coaching session.

They begin before the first session even starts.

When expectations between the sponsor, coaching partner, manager, and other stakeholders aren't aligned, even the most skilled coach can find themselves navigating confusion, mixed agendas, and unclear measures of success.

But when everyone comes together for an open, honest sponsor conversation, something powerful happens.

βœ“ Trust grows.
βœ“ Expectations become clear.
βœ“ Coaching has a stronger foundation.
βœ“ Everyone works towards a shared outcome.

The contracting conversation can be one of the most impactful coaching moments in the entire engagement. It's not simply administration - it's the beginning of meaningful transformation.

Imagine walking into your first coaching session knowing that everyone understands the purpose, the boundaries, and the shared vision for success. How different would that feel for you and your coaching partner?

Great coaching isn't only about the questions you ask in the session.

It's also about the conversations you have before the coaching begins.

Calling all leaders who want to deepen their leadership skills.
This finding surprises almost every leader
And then - almost immediately - it makes complete sense.
Research shows that on high-performing, proactive teams, introverted leaders consistently outperform extroverted ones.
Not sometimes. Consistently.
In a world that has long celebrated the charismatic, confident, room-commanding leader - that is a finding worth sitting with. πŸ˜„

Why?
Because on teams full of talented, self-directed people - the leader who talks less and listens more wins.
Not the loudest voice in the room. Not the one with the most answers. Not the one who drives the hardest.
The one who creates the space for everyone else to think, contribute and shine. (Facts)

And here is what that actually looks like in practice:
They ask before they tell. They pause before they respond. They notice what is not being said as much as what is. They make people feel genuinely heard - and that changes everything.

This is not introversion versus extroversion.
This is presence versus performance.
This is curiosity versus certainty.
This is the leader who empowers - versus the leader who controls. (Opinions)

The irony?
These are exactly the skills most leadership programmes still treat as secondary.
Communication. Listening. Emotional intelligence. Presence.
The World Economic Forum no longer calls these soft skills.
They call them power skills.
And the research backs it up - leaders who develop them see measurably stronger team performance, higher engagement and significantly lower turnover.

Leadership is not about filling the room.
It is about creating the conditions for everyone else to fill it with their best thinking, their boldest ideas and their most courageous contributions.
That is the kind of leader people do not just work for.
That is the kind of leader people follow.

Are you the kind of leader who fills the room - or creates the space? I would love to hear your honest reflection in the comments. πŸ‘‡

Choosing to invest in coach training - and more than that, embarking on a personal and professional development journey - is one of the most significant decisions you will make. Not simply for your career, but for the quality of your life and the kind of coach and leader you are becoming.

It is natural to compare dates, locations and fees. But those are rarely the questions that matter most.

The quality of your learning experience, the people who train you, the feedback you receive and the community you become part of will continue to shape your coaching long after the programme has ended.

So, before you enrol anywhere - take a moment to ask yourself these questions:

βœ“ Is the programme approved by a credentialling body with rigour, practicality and a proven track record - such as the International Coaching Federation (ICF)?

βœ“ Does the learning experience genuinely reflect the investment you are making?

βœ“ Will I be coached, practise coaching and receive real developmental feedback to support me to coach masterfully?

βœ“ Do the trainers actively coach in the real world - and do they bring long-term, lived experience into the room?

βœ“ Is the programme experiential - consistently building and deepening learning rather than simply delivering content?

βœ“ Is personal growth valued as much as professional development?

βœ“ Will I become part of a learning community that continues beyond the programme?

βœ“ Is there ongoing post-training support available to me as part of my investment?

βœ“ Is there clear, structured support for my ICF credentialing journey?

βœ“ Are the trainers not only qualified but genuinely passionate - people whose energy, presence and expertise you can feel, not just read about?

βœ“ Do the people who have already completed the programme speak about it in a way that goes beyond the content - describing how it changed them as a person, not just as a professional?

βœ“ Has the organisation been doing this long enough to have a genuine track record - a community of coaches around the world whose lives and careers are a testament to the training they received?

βœ“ Does the organisation walk its talk - embodying the coaching values of curiosity, empathy, presence and genuine care for every person who walks through their door?

βœ“ When I imagine myself learning there - does it feel like the right fit?

There is no single programme that is right for everyone.

The right programme is the one that grows your confidence, equips you with the skills to coach effectively and supports you long after the training has ended.
Because ultimately, the quality of training you invest in will always show up in the quality of how you coach.

Who is your real client when a sponsor is paying for the coaching?

It's one of the biggest dilemmas coaches face - yet few are ever taught how to navigate it.

In this episode, Marie Quigley and Jeanine Bailey unpack the courageous conversations that protect everyone involved. They explore what happens when agendas aren't spoken, boundaries become blurred, and coaches are expected to carry responsibilities that don't belong to them.

Marie reflects on a moment that changed everything:

"It seemed to me that something was amiss… they wanted me to do their work of giving feedback."

Jeanine reminds us why trusting our instincts matters:

"It's getting clear and trusting your gut… to ask those questions as to whether you are a scapegoat… or are you there to really develop and bring out the best in people."

Marie shares the importance of staying true to our role:

"If you can stay in the coach's role and get curious, it's going to support you… to do even braver contracting."

And Jeanine offers a powerful reminder that success doesn't always look the way we expect:

"Coaching can sometimes support people to realise, 'I am a square peg in a round hole.'"

This conversation is filled with practical wisdom, honest reflections, and the kind of insights every coach, leader, and HR professional wishes they'd heard sooner.

One of our graduates once shared something that has stayed with us.

"There is never the right time. Just take the first step."

How often do we postpone investing in ourselves?

When work becomes quieter.
When life slows down.
When the children are older.
When next year begins.

The reality?

Growth rarely arrives because the timing is perfect.

It arrives because we decide that becoming the person we want to be matters more than waiting for certainty.

Every meaningful journey begins with a single decision.

Perhaps the question isn't: "Is now the right time?"

Perhaps it's: "If not now... then when?"

Our next Professional Coach Training Programme begins this October in Doha.

We'd love to help you explore whether it's the right next step for you.

Tomorrow evening, we invite you to slow down.

In a world of constant notifications, quick answers, and endless distractions, being deeply listened to has become increasingly rare.

When was the last time someone made you feel:
Heard.
Understood.
Valued.
Without interrupting.
Without fixing.
Without judging.

Those moments have the power to change relationships, conversations, and even the way we see ourselves.

Tomorrow, Jeanine Bailey, ICF (International Coaching Federation) Master Certified Coach (the highest credential offered by the ICF), will facilitate an empowering live experience exploring the practice of deep listening.

You can be an exceptional coach and still experience considerable challenge before the first session even begins.

Why? Because no one prepared you for the complexity of the sponsor conversation.

When organisations, HR teams, line managers, and even family members become part of the coaching equation, questions around confidentiality, expectations, boundaries, and success measures can quickly become complicated.

Many coaches find themselves asking:

β€’ Who is the real client?
β€’ What information should be shared and what should remain confidential?
β€’ When should I say yes to a coaching assignment, and when is it better to walk away?

The truth is, not every coaching opportunity is the right opportunity.

In this episode, we explore - often - an underestimated aspects of professional coaching and explore how coaches can confidently navigate sponsor relationships while protecting trust and creating meaningful outcomes for everyone involved.

If you've ever felt uncertain, conflicted, or emotionally stretched by competing stakeholder needs, this conversation will help you feel more prepared, more confident, and more equipped for successful coaching engagements.

🎧 Tune in to understand what you need to be aware of in relation to:
βœ“ Navigating sponsor expectations
βœ“ Protecting confidentiality and trust
βœ“ Identifying coaching opportunities that are the right fit

What if the biggest thing getting in the way of your coaching is the belief that you need to "fix" people?

Many coaches feel pressure to ask the perfect question, provide the right insight, or intervene at just the right moment.

Yet, when we do, we can unintentionally take away the very thing coaching is designed to create - ownership, awareness, and transformation.

The truth is, people are often far more resourceful than we give them credit for.

When coaches trust the process and create a safe space:
βœ“ Clients find their own truth.
βœ“ Confidence and self-belief grow.
βœ“ Transformation becomes deeper and more sustainable.

The magic of coaching is not in having all the answers. It is in being present enough for others to discover their own.

What would change in your coaching if you trusted your clients just a little more?

Have you ever felt that someone was listening to you... but not really hearing you?

Many of us spend our conversations preparing our response rather than being fully present.

The result?

People often leave conversations feeling unseen, unheard and disconnected.

Yet when someone truly listens to us, something beautiful happens.

We feel calmer.
We think more clearly.
We feel valued.

Deep listening has the power to transform leadership, coaching, parenting and relationships.

That is why Jeanine Bailey, ICF Master Certified Coach, is inviting you to a complimentary live experience:
