The Dutertes are not known to be predictable.
In the same way, nobody would have thought that today, Vice President Inday Sara Duterte made it clear to the nation that she has accepted the life she believes she is called to live, one of sacrifice and service.
She offers her life in service to the country and to the Filipino people.
It is not an easy path. The challenges are immense. What happened to former President Duterte serves as a reminder that politics today is no longer confined to national borders.
It has become increasingly complex and, at times, influenced by international dynamics. Alliances and rivalries can extend beyond domestic lines, and institutions may be used to advance broader political agendas.
In the face of such realities, remaining silent may seem like the safer choice. But silence can also invite more attacks, more speculation, and more attempts to undermine oneβs name and intentions. Choosing to speak and stand firm is, in itself, a declaration of resolve.
Finally, VP Inday drew a clear line. She signaled where she stands and what she believes the country can become. Her message was not just about leadership, but about direction, about the kind of Philippines we aspire to build.
As this journey begins, the question now rests with every Filipino: Are we ready to stand for the future we want? Each of us must reflect and decide.
The choice, ultimately, belongs to the people. π
