Today, 15 September 2026, from 6:00 PM, Ioan Nemțoi invites you to the National Museum of Romanian Literature, 64–66 Calea Griviței, Bucharest, for the opening of a special exhibition bringing into dialogue four distinct artistic practices and four different approaches to form, matter and image.

Painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking come together as autonomous modes of artistic inquiry. The exhibition brings together Academician Mircia Dumitrescu, with paintings; Florin Codre, with sculpture; Alina Roșca, with drawings, prints and sculpture; and Ioan Nemțoi, with sculpture and painting.

The works by Alina Roșca and Florin Codre are part of the collection of the National Museum of Romanian Literature.

The event is part of The 16th edition of the Bucharest International Poetry Festival, creating a natural context for a dialogue between image and word, visual form and poetic expression.

From 6:30 PM**, the opening will include addresses by:

Acad. Marius Andruh, President of the Romanian Academy;
Prof. Dr. Arch. Marian Moiceanu, President of the Academic Forum of the “Ion Mincu” University of Architecture and Urbanism;
Pavel Șușară, art critic;
Prof. Ioan Cristescu, PhD, Director of the National Museum of Romanian Literature.

The decision not to accompany this invitation with photographs of the works on display is deliberate. The works are meant to be discovered directly, in the space in which they have been conceived to be seen, in relation to one another, at their actual scale and in the light and spatial setting that a direct encounter with art requires.

🏺 This vase is the work of Ioan Nemtoi, the first Romanian artist to open a gallery in New York. He displayed in Austria, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Norway, Denmark, the United States, Canada, Japan, and Italy, among other places. Furthermore, the artist's works have found a home in major museums throughout the world. 🏺Ioan Nemtoi's artwork "Bread and Fish," donated by the President of Romania on the occasion of the United Nations' 56th session, was shown at the UNICEF headquarters in New York in 2001.

🏺Another sculpture by Ioan Nemtoi was donated to the Vatican Museum by Romania in 2002.

His artworks can be found in the hallways as well as our Royal & Palace Suites.
