Our community stands at a crossroads. Our children are eager to learn, yet they sit under scorching trees with no roof above them. Our mothers and fathers fall prey to treatable diseases, yet no health post stands near to save them. Our women walk for hours under the burning sun to fetch water that is often unsafe water that sickens rather than sustains.

These are not merely infrastructural deficits; they are barriers to dignity, hope and national progress. We therefore humbly request your intervention to:
1. Establish Gieric Primary School a safe, equipped space where young minds can flourish and dream beyond their circumstances.
2. Provide a primary healthcare unit-staffed, stocked and ready to protect lives from preventable tragedies.
3. Install additional water points_bringing clean, life-giving water closer to every home.
Her Excellency, we are not passive recipients of aid. We are ready to labour alongside your office offering our land, our strength and our unwavering commitment to sustainability. We seek not handouts, but partnerships.

To the general public, we say: Gieric is a symbol of what united effort can achieve. Let this be a story of hope, not suffering. The Relaunch of the Bhar El Ghazal Mega Road Construction Raises No Hope Among the Natives of the Region

It was yesterday 24 January 2026 where the Senior Presidential Envoy for Special Programs Hon. Adut Salva Kiir took to the unfinished road of Bhar El Ghazal number of government officials including Minister of Roads and Bridges, Hon Lam Both, the newly appointed Governor of Lakes State, Gen Madhang Majook and many other officials in order to relaunch the road construction which was initially launched by the President of the Republic of South Sudan Gen Salva Kiir Mayardit on 12 December 2014. Shortly after successful inauguration of Nimule Road construction. The Bhar El Ghazal road was the second major mega road construction project which was meant to fulfill the late Dr John Garang's vision of taking town to the people Not people the town". The road construction contract was given to Shangdong Nile High Speed Company Ltd. The company started some road construction works which appeared to be of low quality and subsequently washed away by heavy down pour after the asphalt had been put.

After the outcry of the citizens and natives of both regions, Bhazal El Ghazal and Equatorial. The Shandong Nile High Speed company Contract was allegedly terminated and given to ARC Road construction Company in which another relaunch was done where the natives feel that ARC would have done the quality work since it is a national company, ARC took over and began the road construction from Terekeka were it was stopped and continued up to Akon, the home of the President without doing any significant standard work then only pouring heaps of marram which has caused several road accidents and brought about heavy flooding to some parts of Bhar El Region in Rumbek and Gogrial west areas.

The recent relaunch of the Bhar El Ghazal Mega Road construction was officially presented as a milestone for development and regional integration. However, for many natives of the Bhar El Ghazal region, the announcement has been met not with optimism, but with deep skepticism and disappointment. Years of unfulfilled promises, abandoned projects, and lack of transparency have eroded public trust, leaving communities unconvinced that this relaunch will lead to meaningful change.

For decades, the Bhar El Ghazal Mega Road has symbolized hope for improved transportation, economic growth, and access to essential services. A functional road network would ease trade, connect remote communities, reduce travel time, and improve access to healthcare and education. Yet despite repeated launches and public ceremonies, the road remains largely incomplete, with long stretches impassable, especially during the rainy season.

Many residents recall previous attempts to construct the same road, each accompanied by grand declarations and political fanfare. Heavy machinery would appear briefly, contracts would be announced, and then progress would stall without explanation. These repeated failures have created a sense of fatigue and resignation among the population. To the locals, the latest relaunch feels less like a new beginning and more like a recycled promise.

Another major concern is the absence of community involvement and accountability. Natives of the region argue that they are rarely consulted or informed about project timelines, funding sources, or implementation plans. Without transparency, rumors of mismanagement and corruption thrive, further undermining confidence in the project’s success. For many, the road has become a symbol of how development initiatives are announced without genuine commitment to completion.

The lack of visible change on the ground also contributes to the loss of hope. People measure development not by speeches or groundbreaking ceremonies, but by tangible results, graded roads, functioning bridges, and safe passage. Until communities see consistent work and real progress, skepticism will continue to overshadow official assurances.

In conclusion, the relaunch of the Bhar El Ghazal Mega Road construction has failed to inspire hope among the natives because it is burdened by a history of broken promises and unmet expectations. Restoring public confidence will require more than announcements; it will demand transparency, sustained effort, and clear evidence of progress. Only when the road is truly built and serves the people it was meant for, then the hope return to the hearts of the Bhar El Ghazal community.
