His Grace Dr. Justin Badi Arama Visits Maridi National Teacher's Training Institute, Urges Students to Embrace Teaching as a Noble Calling

Maridi, Western Equatoria State - Monday, September 14, 2026

His Grace Dr. Justin Badi Arama, the Archbishop and Primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan, on Monday paid a visit to the Maridi National Teacher's Training Institute (MNTTI) to encourage student-teachers and appreciate the progress of the institution.

Archbishop Badi said his visit was a normal visit as a son of Maridi, aimed at appreciating the development of the institute under the able leadership of Ustaz Jackson Ramadan, the Principal of MNTTI, and his tutors.

Addressing the students, the Primate stressed the transformative power of education.

"Education is about acquiring knowledge, and every training sharpens the mind and transforms a student into an intellectual," he told the student-teachers.

He cautioned against undermining any form of training, noting that those who do so are missing a great opportunity in life. He said after graduation, the students will be recognized as intellectuals in their communities and will carry the responsibility of shaping the next generation.

In his message, His Grace drew a parallel between the teaching profession and the ministry of Jesus Christ.

"Being a teacher is taking up the role of Jesus, who was called 'Rabbi,' meaning teacher. He taught with authority, compassion and truth, shaping people's minds and hearts, which is exactly what is expected of teachers," Dr. Badi said.

He further commissioned the students to be ambassadors of peace, reconciliation and unity across South Sudan at a time when the nation continues to yearn for lasting peace.

The Archbishop assured the students and the administration that the Church continues to support them in prayers as they pursue their noble calling to educate the nation.

🌙✨ Moon and Venus Meet in a Stunning Close Conjunction on September 14

Look toward the sky on September 14, 2026, as the young crescent Moon and brilliant Venus make a remarkably close pairing! 🌙✨

The two celestial bodies will pass within just 31 arcminutes (0.52°) at conjunction, while their closest apparent approach will bring them to only about 28.8 arcminutes apart. Both will lie in the constellation Virgo.

The Moon will be a delicate 3-day-old waxing crescent, about 15% illuminated, while Venus will shine brilliantly at around magnitude −4.5. ✨

The event becomes even more spectacular because the Moon will pass directly in front of Venus, creating a lunar occultation visible from parts of Africa, Asia, Europe, the Indian Ocean and Indonesia. 🌍 For observers outside the occultation zone, the Moon and Venus will still appear extremely close together, with Venus seeming to graze the Moon's southern edge from some locations.

Because the pair will be relatively close to the Sun in the sky, the conjunction occurs during daylight for many observers, making it a challenging observation. If attempting to find the pair in daylight, never use binoculars or a telescope anywhere near the Sun without proper solar protection. ☀️⚠️

A beautiful meeting of Earth's Moon and one of the brightest planets in our sky! 🌙💫

JUST IN: TRUMP PROPOSES $5,000 “DIVIDEND” FOR AMERICANS IF GOP WINS MIDTERM ELECTIONS

President Donald Trump has renewed his promise to give every adult American a $5,000 “Trump Dividend” if Republicans retain control of both chambers of Congress in the November 2026 midterm elections. Trump first announced the proposal at the Republican midterm convention in Dallas and reiterated it on Sunday, arguing that the United States would have sufficient revenue to finance the payments.

The proposal, however, remains only a political pledge and is not an approved government payment. House Speaker Mike Johnson has said that Congress would need to authorize the payments, while analysts estimate that distributing $5,000 to roughly 240 million adults could cost more than $1 trillion. Questions have consequently emerged over where the money would come from and whether such a large payment could increase the federal deficit or contribute to inflation.

Trump has defended the plan as financially achievable, while critics have questioned both its funding and its connection to the election. The proposal also comes amid scrutiny of earlier Trump promises involving $2,000 tariff “dividends,” which had not materialized.
