Information Minister Ateny Wek meets Zain CEO, promises to end burden on tariff

The Minister of Information, Communication Technology and Postal Services, Ateny Wek Ateny, has pledged to ease the burden on mobile and internet service providers.

The commitment followed a meeting on Thursday with Zain CEO Philippe Hanna, focused on the high cost of internet and communication services in South Sudan.

Ateny stressed that internet access is a human right and said South Sudanese deserve affordable rates to support communication, education, and business. He argued that lowering charges would benefit both citizens and companies, noting that service providers have a market of over five million users nationwide.
