Peace was indeed planted in Aweil – Veronica Abuk Majok

Former Deputy Guild President of the University of Bahr El Ghazal Students' Union, Veronica Abuk Majok remarked “peace was planted in Aweil”, commencing the peaceful election process done by the Aweil Students' Association on April 5, 2026.

“Peace was indeed planted in Mading Aweil and then it has branched into other states, indeed I believe. If you find Aweilians on the road arguing, you may think that these people will fight later, but lastly they will embrace each other and walk. I love that spirit,” she said.

Abuk made these remarks during the Thanksgiving ceremony organized by the Chairlady of Aweil Students' Association at the University of Bahr El Ghazal, Veronica Akuot Mariano Jiel on Tuesday in Wau.

She further appreciated Mr. Anyaar Choldit Mawien for being courageous, accepting defeat, and cooperating with the winner when the election results were announced.

“I am really happy with the courage you have, Brother Anyaar. I'll say congratulations! If we all have the same spirit that Mr. Anyaar has, in our communities, we shall be peaceful and live in the right way,” Veronica underscored.
