🔴 BREAKING NEWS

UNMISS has officially handed over two Protection of Civilians (PoC) sites to the Upper Nile State government.

Confirming the development, Upper Nile State Information Minister Peter Ngwojo said the handover took place on 13 February, marking a key transition from UN peacekeepers to local authorities.

The sites include:

The former Rwandan police base, now under state police control

The Indian battalion site, handed over to community members who lived in the PoC

State authorities say police have already been deployed to secure the areas and maintain law and order, describing the move as a sign of growing confidence in local institutions to manage security independently.
