Something special is coming to Yei.

The 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐘𝐞𝐢 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥, also known as “𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐭𝐨 𝐌𝐲 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬,” is an annual homecoming festival created to bring together people from across South Sudan and beyond who share a connection with 𝐘𝐞𝐢.

For generations, Yei has welcomed people from different tribes and communities. Many came to Yei to live, study, work, build businesses, raise families, make friendships and pursue their dreams. For some, Yei was a temporary home; for others, it became a foundation that shaped their lives.

This festival is a call to come back home, reconnect with our roots, celebrate our shared history and give recognition to the people and communities that made Yei what it is.

We will celebrate the 64 tribes and communities that have, at different times, called Yei home, while recognizing the leaders, legends, heroes, artists, professionals and other great personalities whose stories are connected to Yei.

But this is more than a festival.

It is a celebration of unity, peace, culture, friendship and peaceful coexistence. It is a reminder that although we may come from different backgrounds, many of our stories have a chapter that was written in Yei.

Yei planted the seeds. Yei produced good fruits. Now, it is time to come back to the roots and celebrate the fruits together.

Minutes and Resolutions of the First Abegi Youth Meeting & Notice of Next Meeting

1. Introduction and Chairman’s Address
The Chairman of the Abegi Youth Association recently convened a historic and crucial meeting dedicated to the development and empowerment of the youth within the Abegi Community. The first meeting was well-attended by *15* active and dedicated members.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman expressed his profound gratitude to all members who attended, commending their patriotism and commitment to the community. He challenged the youth to take active ownership of the community's future and lead its development initiatives.

2. Meeting Agenda
The Chairperson briefed the assembly on the two primary objectives of the meeting:
Structuring the Youth Association's leadership by addressing vacant office positions.
Brainstorming and developing impactful community youth activities.

3. Key Resolutions
Following constructive deliberations, the general assembly passed the following resolutions:

Cabinet Formation: The members commended the Chairman for organizing this historic gathering. To ensure inclusive representation, it was unanimously agreed that the full youth cabinet will be officially formed and elected during the second meeting, allowing more youth to participate.

Ambassadors of Unity: The Chairman officially designated all attending members as "Ambassadors of Unity," tasking them with fostering peace and cohesion across a united Abegi Community.

Vacant Leadership Positions: The assembly identified several key portfolios that need to be filled in the upcoming meeting, including:
- Vice Chairman
- General Secretary
- Secretary of Information
- Secretary of Finance
- Secretary of Education
- Secretary of Sports and Culture
- Board of Advisors

4. Notice of Next Meeting
All youth members of the Abegi Community are highly encouraged to attend the next meeting.

A clean city is not built by the government alone, it is built by citizens who care.

Today, the streets of Yei witnessed another inspiring act of community service as young people, including dedicated young women, came together to remove litter and restore the beauty of our town. Their participation sends a powerful message that protecting our environment is everyone’s responsibility.

Yei has always been known for its beauty, hospitality, and resilience. If each resident takes responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean, we can proudly restore the image of “Yei Small London.”

To everyone who participated today, thank you for leading by example. Your actions speak louder than words and inspire others to become part of the solution.

Let’s not wait for special occasions to clean our town. Let cleanliness become our daily culture and civic pride.

A cleaner Yei is a healthier Yei. A healthier Yei is a stronger Yei.

Together, let’s make Yei Small London shine again. 💚🌍

BURIAL PROGRAM
For Late James Duku

Abegi Sub Community

The Organizing Committee together with the family of the late James Duku announces the burial program as follows:

Monday, 13th July 2026 - 3:00 PM
The remains will be brought home from the mortuary to his residence in Munuki, behind EBI Clinic.

Tuesday, 14th July 2026
The body will be taken from home to Christ the King Church for Requiem Mass and prayers.
After the church service, the body will depart for the burial place in Gurei Residential Area.

Burial
The burial will commence at 10:00 AM at the family plot in Gurei.

Last Funeral Service - Tentative
Saturday, 18th July 2026
The last funeral rite will be held, pending final confirmation.
